I just finished, what was probably, the hardest paper i have ever had to write. For my Hitler:A Man and His Times class our final paper assignment was to write a journal. The journal was to be made up of 6 entries written on 6 out of 10 different dates we were provided in Hitler's life. In the entries we were required to write each entry as if we were Hitler and we were supposed to write what we thought he would have been thinking and feeling at that specific time.
This assignment challenged me on every level and without a doubt was the most difficult thing i have ever written. The assignment forced me to really try and put myself in Hitler's position, which in itself was a challenge. I can't describe the thoughts which ran through my mind as I attempted to do this. I also discovered that the assignment is completely subjective. There can be no right or wrong answer and everything that is written is completely personal to the writer. In some ways it was an examination of myself as much as it was an examination of Hitler.
