Time for another Catch Up Post
So…I started this post last week and I'm just now getting around to posting it. LOL
Before I get to the other mundane crap, let's me tell you about the bizarro crazycakes batshit insane drama that happened this morning (okay yesterday morning…was too tired to post last night when I finished typing LOL).
Behind the cut…
So…as noted below, our fridge completely went kaputzo and we're waiting on a new one. Long story, but we qualify for a free replacement but have to wait for Lowe's to contact us about a delivery so yeah, we're living out of coolers right now. *sigh*
Anyway, my daughter and I were taking water out to the freezer in the garage to make more ice when she's like "Mom, do you hear that? Someone is screaming and yelling outside."
No shit if they were. We walk out and in the yard across the street from us there's a woman and a man arguing and grappling with each other. The fucked up part? They've got a kid between them. I SHIT YOU NOT. The woman is yelling and shouting at the guy and she's holding the kid with his back against her chest and the guy is trying to keep her from taking him while at the same time not letting her turn it into a tug of war. This kid is probably like three years old and was screaming his head off. And why the hell not…he's got two adults who want him in two different places.
At this point, I'm ready to lose my crap, march over and give them both a verbal lashing for putting a kid in the middle of their argument. Didn't particularly care if they were arguing OVER him. And the kid sure as hell didn't appreciate it.
But I didn't. And I'm so glad because my eight year old was glued to my side. What I did do was continue to watch and walk around the house to grab my phone and call our sheriff's office. By the time I got it and back outside they'd left my line of sight, but I could still hear them. Mind you, my eight year old is still right there with me…because she knows this kid and wants to make sure he's gonna be okay.
Long story short? The female is the kid's mom and she made arrangements with the dad to bring him home sometime today, but then decided to get pissed off and just show up this morning and take the kid. Seriously, she walked into their house, grabbed the kid and left.
Here's the kicker. She brought her seven year old (different dad) along as a witness *eye roll* AND she's pregnant (another different dad). The whole village should probably be thankful she left her daughter (bun in the oven's dad) at home. Confused yet? It gets better.
Okay…not better, but even more total drama island. The dad of daughter and baby to be? Is also the father of one of my oldest son's best friends. I KNOW RIGHT! Could it get anymore crazycakes insano?
Of course it could. Are you kidding?
Apparently the deputy who arrived to handle the three ring circus is the grandfather/godfather/some kind of relation to the seven year old son she brought with her. So…another deputy showed up to help him out. With all the witness statements or whatever they're called it's probably a good thing. Mine's all ready to go. From what I've heard, she's being charged with assault and possibly more.
I did find out, after the fact, that the woman is bi-polar and refuses to seek treatment. I can't and won't try to judge the reason why she wouldn't get help but I talked to the little guy later and he's such a sweet kid. Hope he can stay that way.
And that's life in my tiny town. Makes me wonder why I bother to watch TV. I could sit on my porch and get all the drama I could ever want. LOL
And now…onto the rest of the update…
Sky Life: Landscaping still continues and I'm actually enjoying it. Well, except for the past week when the temp was so hot you went limp and wilted in it. LOL Ugh…I'm in Ohio, it shouldn't be 97 effing degrees. : (
The other big fun project of clearing out the garage is coming along. I sorta took a break when the heat wave crap was going on, but it's game on again this week. My oldest son and a couple of his friends will be bribed, begged and/or badgered into helping me move some of the big stuff.
Random stupid stuff like our fridge totally croaking it and one of our vehicle batteries dying also happened but was balanced out by totally kicking ass on changing out the brake pads on our Honda. : D Saved us like $80.00.
What's been on the Sky Must View List?
We'll go behind a cut again...
Netflix Marquee
Finally finished everything I could find in the Babylon 5 'verse. Gotta say…I think I'd read a phone book if it was written by JMS. Seriously, I don't think he left a plot thread dangling at all by the end. And the small, tiny strands he wove throughout the series all came together for payoff sooner or later. Things that happened in the first season had big impact later…and not always in the way the viewer would expect. (At least not in ways I expected). I highly, highly recco this series for anyone who hasn't seen it yet. :D
I finished In Treatment and quite loved the first season. I added the second to my queue and look forward to watching it when it's available.
Started the third series of Rosemary & Thyme. Like Midsomer Murders, I enjoy this series for its kinda fun vibe. There's almost always a humorous undertone to each murder mystery. And yeah…you'd never want to meet these two women in real life 'cause people drop like flies around them. LOL
New Seasonal Stuff
Eureka premiere? I enjoyed it. James Callis sounds so very different with an American accent. :D I'm also rather interested in where they go with things. The Sky Jury is still out on whether I'll like the twisty twist or not. Frankly, while I enjoyed Tess last season, I have a feeling I'll get very tired of her this season. : (
Warehouse 13…How can I not love a show that uses stunt casting to such awesome effect? Last season it was Zane and Jo from Eureka and this season (so far) Simon and Kaylee from Firefly. *hearts*
And I love, love, love how this show totally geeks out on geek out terms from other genre shows. This past week the comic shop guy was all 'boo-frakkin'-hoo' and Claudia pulled off an 'alonsy!' a la The Doctor. :D
Haven: The premiere wasn't bad. I totally enjoy the constant stream of snarkasm from the female lead, Audrey Parker. We'll see if I still love it three or four eps in (right, as if I wouldn't LOL). Nicholas Campbell is an old favorite, so points for casting him.
True Blood: Eh…like last season, the first few episodes feel like they're plodding along with set-up, set-up, set-up. Probably not a bad thing because it feels like we're finally getting into the good bit of the story. I thought last season paid off in a pretty big way so I'll hang on for the ride. Besides, Lafayette and Eric are totally killing me with the hilarious. It's worth watching just for that. :D
I'll also post what I'm sure will be a very unpopular opinion and state that I'm actually very happy Katee didn't take the role as Debbie. I'm of the mindset that the chemistry would have just been all kinds of wrong. No wait…that's not right. Katee could work chemistry with a fence post, so maybe it's more a vibe thing. Yeah, let's go with that. Of course I say this never having read the books, so feel free to convince me otherwise. But honestly, if she ever works with Alan Ball, I'd absolutely tune in if she only had a bit part. LOL
Rewatch Mania
Le Femme Nikita: Watched the last six or so episodes of S4, starting right before Abort, Fail, Retry, Terminate. *meep* That one always, always kills me dead. I'd really love to do a rewatch from the beginning of the series…anyone else interested?
Also picking back up with my Farscape rewatch. Just finished S1 and I'm already rolling through the beginning of S2. This show ranks right up there as one of the best written and acted series ever in my book. And the total satisfaction ending doesn't hurt either. :D
Speaking of awesome writing and acting (and directing/filming)…my traditional marathon viewing of Band of Brothers over the Fourth holiday stirred up lots of warm fuzzies this year. 'They depended on each other. And the world depended on them.' along with 'There was a time the world asked ordinary men to do extraordinary things' are two of the best taglines ever, IMO. And the casting? Truly genius. Why don't they give out awards for getting it so completely right? LOL
Seriously, have you ever watched the very last ep? The retrospective deal where some of the actual men are featured? We Stand Alone Together. I honestly enjoy it almost as much as the actual episodes. I've seen it numerous times, yet I still get chills when Heffron and Gaurnere are revisiting Bastogne. And the end…(okay not the total end…that would Heffron singing Bridgit O'Flynn LOL) when Winters talks about the letter he received from one of the men (Alley, I think), the quote always makes me sniffly: (paraphrased) 'Grandpa, are you a hero?' And Alley answers, 'No. I'm not a hero. But I served in a company of them.'
Kinda awesome, no?
Anyhoo…that's it in Skysville right now. Off to start an update for my author blog now. Until next time…
Catch everyone on the flip.
