Random Update
Not much going on in Sky Land except loads of yard work/gardening/landscaping and massive clean up projects around the house and garage. And writing. Lots and lots of writing.
The sages are being very kind to me right now. *pets them*
Since they are being so awesome, I thought I'd offer up one of those teasy teaser type posts for everyone. Sneak peeks of my unruly list of WIPs. :D
We'll do that behind a cut…for length. LOL *headdesk*
Oh, I should also add that none of this is beta'd or edited. And er…a couple of the titles will probably undergo numerous name changes before everything is said and done. "D
FANFIC:
BSG: Breaking Point (Sequel to Close Quarters)
It took the better part of a week to sort out the chain of events leading up to the explosion on the Thera Ceta. 27 souls lost, 52 injured. A devastating blow not only to Lee, but to the fleet, as that ship was the hub of the civilian unrest. In a way it put him directly back to square one, with a single notable exception. Minutes prior to the explosion, a recorded message went out over the wireless from a group claiming responsibility.
What Goes Around Comes Around - A BSG Sidewaysverse Fic
"Excuse me, Ms. Thrace." Lee Adama pulled the curator of the Delphi Museum, off to the side of the crime scene. "Can you give me basics of what happened here?"
Untitled LFN/BSG Crossover Fic (leaning toward naming it 'Cooperate or What?')
One moment Lee was going on about climbing mountains and the next Kara grabbed hold of him and things went black.
Until they dropped out of the sky and landed like stones in a hail of bullets.
Kara fell on top of him, knocking the wind out of his lungs, but they both rolled to their sides and made for cover. Once he could breathe again, he checked her over. Scrape on her left cheek but she looked okay otherwise.
LFN: Seems Like Old Times
Nikita took up her spot on the perch and watched the hum of activity below. She'd made a lot of changes in the last five years, but the quiet hustle and bustle in the hub never altered. There was always something going on - an op, research, listening posts. It never died down.
BSG/Farscape Crossover: Of Wormholes and Maelstroms
(A bit from the BSG Prologue)
Earth the second.
The place they'd call home. Kara did her bit to assist dismantling and tearing whatever the people would keep out of Galactica and loading it into the waiting raptors.
No technology allowed, but things like linens, blankets, and small stuff that could be carried or pulled along was fair game.
(A bit from the Farscape Prologue)
Two years after Crichton dazzled the masses with his wormhole weapon, the uneasy truce between the Peacekeepers and the Scarens started to come apart at the seams.
The HBIC, Commandant Grayza, almost pulled off the ultimate coup but managed to muck it up. The Scarens were on the war path and Crichton was about to get sucked in again.
BSG: Snippets in Time - Sacrifices
Kara stood under the pounding spray of the shower. The water no longer hot, more like luke warm, but it still felt good. She'd stay until the stream ran cold.
Which would be a switch…it had been ages since she'd taken a shower that wasn’t more than an icy blast so she could sober up. Long enough that she's almost forgotten how exhilarated she could feel after letting the water do more than wash away her sins.
BSG: Stealing Kara
"Thank you." Lee leaned forward and kissed Kara on the cheek. "For the hospitality." He slapped Zak on the back and wrapped an arm around him. "I'll call you later. Maybe we can find a pick up game of pyramid?"
Zak nodded and walked Lee to the door. "Sounds great, bro. I've got class 'til four, but after that, schedule is wide open."
Lee grinned and ducked out the door. "Later." He lifted his hand, waved at Kara and headed for the stairs.
Damn his brother. The guy got everything. And always, always had to bring up the stupid girlfriend deal.
ORIGINAL STUFF
Indie Ink - Black Unicorn Press Book One
Lucy Sanderson sat in front of the monitor, eyes riveted to the screen.
So completely into the material, she almost missed seeing Brian Wells enter the office. She finished reading the page just as he settled into his seat across from her, a mug of hot coffee in his hand.
Lucy cocked her head sideways. "So…" She drew the word out. "Where do you get the shit in your head?" She fought back a smile when his confused eyes flew to hers over the top of the cup. "I mean does it just like exist there waiting to come pouring out or do you have to work at creating it?" She purposefully waited until he had a mouthful of coffee before she added. "Or does wanting me to be half naked all the time inspire you?"
To his credit, Brian choked down most of the hot liquid, managing to keep the bit that did spew out to a minimum. "Bollocks. You hacked my password again, didn't you?" He grabbed a napkin to wipe his chin.
Boyfriend's Brother
Chloe Timmons was bored.
One of seven flight instructors who taught wet behind the ears cadets the ins and outs of flying - basic flight, combat maneuvers, advanced weaponry assaults - she'd just finished putting twenty-five newbs through the wringer. Semester break was upon her and she wanted to celebrate.
But she didn't want to do it alone.
Bucking Convention (Sequel to Surviving the Trap)
Captain Maggie Harper blew out a deep breath, flipping the folder in her lap closed. She didn't want to read anymore details about the explosion that took the life of a fellow pilot. One she was en route to replace on the roster.
It sucked to step in when a comrade was lost. Worse, when you were personally involved in the fallout.
And it didn't get any more personal for her.
She happened to be replacing Max Cutter's wingman.
Civil Revolution
"Incoming! Take cover!"
Lex Durban pushed the refugees in front of him to move faster, knowing some of them wouldn't make it.
It pissed him off. They shouldn't lose people anymore. Getting caught with their pants down sucked.
Civil Revolution II
"They're perfect together."
Dom frowned. "Yeah, I know." His voiced sounded harsh, even to his own ears. He had to work on that.
"Why not let it go? Hook-up with someone else?"
Dom shot her a sideways look. "You volunteering?"
Etta shrugged. "I might be." She eyed him up and down. "You interested?"
Crises - The Most Wonderful Time of the Year
Capital City.
Where no one knew your name…especially during the holidays.
Most people went about their self-prescribed traditions, too busy to care about anything other than spending money and finding the next 'perfect' item so it could be crossed off a way too long list.
But not even the sheer volume of credits exchanged from Thanksgiving to Christmas Eve managed to quell the number of embittered and downtrodden who picked this time of year to go off the deep end or make a stand for their cause.
And someone had to deal with them…diffuse the situation, garner a peaceful outcome. If not, things could get very ugly.
Ben Murphy was the someone people called. A top negotiator, his proven ability and track record made him the go to person when wanting to avoid bloodshed.
After all, who wanted that to go along with their holiday cheer?
Dancing at Dawn - A Crystal Shard Brotherhood Book
Jackson Alexander preferred a life of solitude. Not necessarily the quiet kind, more like the type where he'd always be free to come and go as he pleased.
More or less. Being a member of the Brethren meant he spent one month out of the year tending the Keep and renewing the Crystal Shard that protected the planet Kendark from polar anomalies. Because he didn't have a choice in the matter, more than a few of his relationships had tanked when he had to fulfill his responsibilities.
Hence the preference for solitary existence.
So much easier that way.
Down in Mexico
Kiernan Darby had spent the last five long years on her own.
She'd built up a solid clientele at her diving school -- tucked away from the truly touristy parts of Mexico -- and she restored boats on the side. Sailboats…nothing with engines. And she kept a low profile about that…she couldn't afford to draw the wrong kind of attention to herself.
There was a reason she disappeared without a trace and needed it to stay that way.
Fan the Flames
Lovejoy felt the zing. The one that told him two potential matches were in the same vicinity. He closed his eyes and let his instinct guide him.
Up and over the high rise office buildings of the city, through the factory district, onward, across the river and down into the charmingly quaint suburb of Reese Woods.
It had been a long while since he'd found his quarry on the outskirts of the city. This must be a special case.
Finding Home (Furlough 99 Anthology)
Greyswell Industries - Head Office - Mars Colony
"What's the death toll?"
"One hundred and fifty as of ten a.m. this morning."
Marshton Grey nodded curtly, accepting the information and his chief of security quickly exited the plush office. The man had gone above and beyond by keeping Marsh informed of the situation. Now it was time to do damage control and nip the problem in the bud.
Belle of the Underground - A First Breed Novel
Raven Malone never liked three a.m. phone calls.
Lately, she really, really loathed them. By nature it made sense she'd get more calls between midnight and six in the morning, after all, that was play time for her kind.
But over the past few weeks that play had turned deadly and Raven didn't like it. Not one damn bit.
Hot As Hades
Roxie St. Clair was hot.
Burning, boiling, dripping in sweat, hot.
She'd known using all four kilns at once would make her studio unbearable. She also figured it would make her attached loft warmer than usual.
But holy hell, it was sweltering.
She couldn't shut any of them down either. Too much rode on getting as many pieces completed as possible. She could kick herself for that last creative spurt she'd had.
But it was her best work.
Her very best ever.
Idyllic Affair (Insula Ara Anthology)
"Hot damn, Captain…We pulled it off!"
Geoff MacLeod raised an eyebrow at his helmsman, Marcus Ramsey. "Let's get clear of the blockade before we start celebrating, Mr. Ramsey." He directed his attention to his executive officer, Linnea Jensen. "XO? Tell me we're close." He could see the same the screenshot she could, but where he relied on instinct for guidance, Linnea used cold, hard facts to their advantage. She'd know the instant their ship, the Charming Lady, was beyond the blockade and into semi-safe territory.
Linnea waited a beat, and then glanced up from her charts. "Another three hundred kilometers and we're clear. So far, no pursuit from the Axis Prime." Her face lit up with a grin, but fell flat when a bogie blipped into view on the monitor. "Shit. Check that. Three AP vessels closing in fast." She spun around, punched a button and brought the holographic view screen up in the middle of the bridge. "We're boxed in."
Geoff moved to stand beside her. "Son of a bitch."
Meddlesome Gods
Bree Daniels had a dilemma. Up next for a turn at the matching pool, she'd end up face to face with Archer Fenway. And he would not be happy to see her.
And didn't that just figure? Because she couldn't wait to lay eyes on him. And maybe her hands and other body parts, too. If he didn't try to strangle her before she had the chance.
A Consortium of Chaos
Ashton Sylvester, Earl of Cranford, watched his counterpart Esme Von Staunton, smoothly glide down onto the landing patch. The zeppelin touched down with barely a bump. He'd been fortunate indeed when he'd fallen for the best airship pilot around, not to mention a beautiful one.
To Create a Spy
The nightmare had her snared in its tangled depths. Thrashing on the cot, trying to fight the onslaught of images crashing through her mind, Mariah St. James battled physical restraints, too. But she didn’t know that.
Caught up in the terror, she had no idea she was strapped to a cot wearing only thin cotton clothes drenched with sweat. Twisting, writhing she flinched with pain and memories. The horrific flashes tumbled around, churning, pushing her deeper into the darkness.
Flash!
She answered for made up transgressions on the receiving end of her mother's pounding fists and verbal tirades.
Toying with Desire
"Just what in the hell do you think you're doing?"
Carly Johnson looked up from the conversation she'd been engaged in to see what the fuss was about.
Oh my. Yum in the flesh. Tall, with dark hair that brushed his shirt collar and muscles that moved nicely underneath the fabric. Oh, and about a days growth of stubble on his face.
She had a weakness for that.
Mr. Scruffy Good-Looking stormed past the tables, headed in her direction. Apparently his question had been for her.
To V or Not to V
"Hey, Mal. We got him."
The voice came from outside the office and Mallory Biden looked up from the report on her desk expecting to see her brother Rex in three, two, one…
He burst through the door, winded, and skidded to a halt.
"You tracked Surge?"
Rex must've hauled ass from the monitoring station, two floors down.
"Where the hell is he?"
Mia's Choice
Hal Manning sat behind his desk and heaved a sigh. Dealing with a mix of military and civilian crew gave him the worst headache and he wondered, not for the first time, whose bright idea it had been to combine the two and send them out into deep space to construct a new outpost.
Probably someone with a pay grade much higher than his.
He pulled out the log reports and sifted through the pile of complaints. Could the commandos do their drills somewhere else? Could the science geeks conduct experiments that made the ship reek of indescribable aromas in the hold instead of on the same level as living quarters? And could they both just stay out of each other's way?
Maybe he should lock everyone in the cargo hold and let them duke it out.
Better yet, barricade himself in and let the inmates run the asylum.
Yeah, wouldn't happen.
Hal worked steadily for the next hour on the logs, writing orders, confirming information and filing memos. The name on the last report caught his attention.
Mia Sinclair.

And thus ends the rambly list. Whew. LOL
I've also been watching lots of shows. Doctor Who is kicking ass. Vincent and the Doctor…so, so good. I'm a Tony Curran fan anyway and he sorta just blew me away in V&tD. Interesting aside…a Six Degrees of BSG kinda deal. Tony co-starred in Ultimate Force with Jamie back before BSG and recently also co-starred on 24 with Katee. No idea if they had scenes or were connected character wise, but I thought it was kinda cool. :D
Almost finished with the first season In Treatment. Wasn't sure I'd like it, but yeah…it's pretty awesome. Quietly intense. The last disc I watched, week 8, had me completely emo. LOL
When CBS airs The Bridge (Aaron Douglas's show) watch it. Seriously great show. It's got some twisty turns that I loved and lots of shades of gray.
Also into a couple of Aussie dramas at the moment. Sea Patrol and Rescue Special Ops. They feed my action adventure craving. :D And well, hot men…always a plus.
Finished a rewatch of Cold Squad. I got all nostalgic since more than a few BSG actors were in this show prior to BSG. And I've said this before…but it always makes me laugh how hot I think Matthew Bennett is in Cold Squad, yet he's so not in BSG (IMO). How does that happen? LOL
Hmm…that's all I can think of for now. Oh, wait. Farscape and La Femme Nikita…I'm doing a rather meandering rewatch of both shows. Nothing overly structured but I'm working on fics for both and it's fun to go back and revisit when I need info. :D
And that's it in Sky Land. Sunshine and wispy clouds. :D
Catch everyone on the flip.
