Happy Valentines Day!
Warner Brothers is selling a
Luna Lovegood jewelry set.
Thank you everyone for the recs for places to look for an inspiration outfit. I’m going to try all of them, and last night I also remembered Talbot’s.
American Idol
Reading Jacob’s recap of Tuesday night’s proceedings helped me a lot as far as clarifying who is who. I also discovered I’m going to enjoy reading Jacob’s recaps a lot this season, as he and I seem to agree pretty much across the board on contestants.
Robbie Carrico turns out to the be the unwashed, homeless street person I was referring to yesterday, although following Jacob’s lead I believe I will add pothead to his string of adjectives. It is certainly suitable. He has a fairly nice voice, but I can’t stand to have to look at him week after week, so I will power vote for his competitors until he is gone.
I didn’t realize there was a Leif Garrett impersonator in the competition until last night. And his name is even Garrett. That’s awesome! I want to shave his head, but it’s still awesome. Too bad we didn’t really get to hear him. Same for a couple of other guys. Really, we didn’t need all that backstory - we could have used the time to get to know some of the people who got through!
There were really no surprises. The Massively Pimped Privileged People got massively pimped some more and the designated cannon fodder got overlooked.
GO CANNON FODDER!!!
I also like a lot of the cute short-haired boys, so I'll be voting for them a lot.
I still like Michael Johns and David Archuletta, even though they are among the Massively Pimped Privileged People. And I think Colton is adorable, but looks like a poor innocent being sent to the slaughter.
I thought the chair torture was a bit needlessly exaggerated this year. Actually, this was a disappointing Hollywood Week in general.
So glad Kyle is not going to end up getting the Sanjaya treatment. He’s a nice boy and I wish him well.
Bring on the top 24! I got some voting to do!
Project Runway
What a nifty challenge! I think that may be one of the best challenges they’ve ever done. It gave the designers some good inspiration to work with and still let them really show themselves off as designers. And how cool was it that they got to be in the MMA alone!
The results were mostly what I expected. It was Sweet P’s week to go, and she got exactly that edit, plus her dress, um ... well, let’s just say it was colorful and not much else. I thought Roberto Cavalli expressed things rather well when he said there was nothing he could say about that dress. I do like Sweet P. She’s a very sweet (hee!) lady and I hope she’s doing well.
I thought it was also pretty obvious that Jillian and Christian would be in the final and that Christian would win and I think those results are exactly what they should have been.
Then there is the Rami & Chris thing. I was not expecting this “design-off” finish, at all. It’s not a bad idea, in theory, since both of them would have been designing and showing collections for Fashion Week anyway (one as a contestant and one as a decoy contestant). In practice, though, I’m not sure it’s fair. It’s fairer than the results the judges probably would have come up with had Mr. Cavalli not been there. It was rather obvious Michael Kors and Nina Garcia wanted to keep Rami, who has made the same dress week after week (with the exception of his Hershey’s dress) and auf Chris, who has been doing some interesting and creative work lately. I think that completely exclusive of his designs, Chris just doesn’t fit their image of who a Project Runway winner should be and I’m worried for him.
Next week - Reunion Show! Yay!!!
