America's Next Top Model, American Idol

I've been almost spammy lately, but then I've had more to be excited about lately than I have in a long time.

America’s Next Top Model:

I thought it was pretty obvious from the beginning of the show that it was Brittany’s week to go. She took great pictures but after her trouble with the commercial and then go sees this week there was no way she was moving forward. I did love the sound editing for her go sees! Too funny!

Now we are left with Renee, Natasha, Jaslene and Dionne. Honestly, I could see any one of them winning it. Although Dionne is getting a little of the “going downhill” edit, very similar to the one Keenyah got in Cycle 4, just substitute “mall” for “fat.” This makes me unhappy, because I have grown pretty fond of Dionne.

I saw only parts of the second half of the show because I was busy fretting over whether or not Fox was going to show American Idol. I did catch a little of Tyra as photographer and she seems to be pretty decent at it.

American Idol Song Choice Speculation for the Coming Week

Very short list of Bee Gees songs I know and like:

Disco:
Stayin’ Alive
Night Fever
More Than A Woman
Tragedy
Jive Talkin’
Nights on Broadway
You Should Be Dancing

Ballads:
Massachusetts
To Love Somebody
I’ve Gotta Get a Message to You
How Deep Is Your Love
I Started a Joke
Too Much Heaven
Lonely Days
How Can You Mend a Broken Heart

It was hard to categorize a few of them because some of the ballads are a little discoey and some of the disco songs are borderline ballads. And there are plenty of ballads for LaKisha, Jordin, and Melinda to choose from, but honestly I hope Melinda, at least chooses something other than a ballad.

And I hope and pray Blake chooses something other than a ballad! He can’t really toss in a lot of isms/vocal entendres, coming off this week’s performance, but I can easily imagine a lot of the disco songs being Blakeized at least a little -- Jive Talkin’, especially, though I think You Should Be Dancing and Stayin’ Alive could also be Blakeized without anyone crying foul.

Disco isn’t singers’ music, anyway. It’s all about the beat (perfect for beatboxing but we probably won’t get much, if any) and the dancers so Blake really should be pretty much in his element, here. He’s just got to be careful or all the “he always beat boxes” lies will start up again. One thing that’s very good, though, is that I think Blake and Melinda are the two with the best opportunity to be very distinctive and therefore survive this week. *fingers crossed, wood knocked on*

What do y’all think? Any preferences as to song choices for any of the final four? Remember, they sing twice this week!

And no, I do not know that they are restricted to Bee Gees songs. The AI site says songs made famous by Barry Gibb, but is that for both songs? If there's more than one them, the other could be pop, disco, dance music, 70s music, movie music, songs by trios, songs by people with blond hair, songs on Barry Gibbs’ ipod ... has anyone heard anything?
