I'm a day late, but here goes...

1. Which animal in Care of Magical Creatures is your favorite?CoMC classes make me cringe. I'm not a fan of Hagrid, at all, and I don't find any thing he does or most of the animals interesting or funny. If I'm pressed, I'd have to say the nifflers. They seem to be the only truly useful and interesting animals ( Read more... )

Hee. We got into HP at the same time!

I remember starting to see all the articles about GoF being released and I wanted to know what all the fuss was about. I devoured the first three books and promptly picked up the fourth. XD

Very cool! Glad to see someone else has this long-term addiction to HP!

ICAM about the humor value of Hagrid. I, quite frankly, don't really "get" JKR's sense of humor, I think.

However, I think that Hagrid's first lesson was terrific, then Malfoy messed it up and it was downhill from there.

[edited to delete bitching about Dumbledore]

Well, I like some of her wordplay, but there are other parts of her humor that I don't get either. Hagrid's first lesson was the hippogriff, right? That was pretty cool, and a good setup for Draco's characterization and the rest of the plot in the book. I think the blast-ended skrewts were the ones that bugged me the most, but then almost all of GoF bugs me these days.

And feel free to bitch about Dumbledore all you want 'round these parts. He definitely makes plenty of mistakes!

If I'm pressed, I'd have to say the nifflers. They seem to be the only truly useful and interesting animals studied.

Useful at irritating Umbridge!

Is there an inconsistency in the books that really bothers you?

It bothers me a little that they don't use certain modes of transportation at certain points that are described later. For instance, side-along apparation could have been useful at several points in earlier books (despite the prohibition on apparating into Hogwarts itself).

Which would you rather like to visit: Grimmauld Place or Godric's Hollow?

I'd rather visit the Department of Mysteries, myself.

Hahahaha! Yes! And irritating Umbridge is always a good thing.

I hadn't thought much about the transportation issues, but you're right. And I can't think of any good reason for her to keep the concept of side-along apparition hidden.

The Department of Mysteries would be great fun to visit! I can't wait to see it in OotP.
