I love sharing embarrassing stories about my younger self! I had an Aha! moment this morning. I was working on describing one of the houses I lived in as a child for my project, and realized I was a fangirl when I was 5!
"We shared the bedroom for a few years. We didn’t always get along well sharing. At one point we took hair ribbons and tied them together to make a rope, then tied it to the bathroom door and our bedroom door to split the room in two. Neither was allowed to leave their “half” of the room. I think that my side was a little bigger, but A’s side had the bathroom. A had some sort of giant stuffed animal in the corner at the end of her bed. And I think there were bookshelves on the wall there, as well. I had the little cardboard vanity table I received for Christmas one year. After a while I got tired of it being a vanity and pretended it was Lieutenant Uhura’s communications console on Stark Trek, and I was Lieutenant Uhura."
The funny thing is -- I could swear I didn't like Star Trek at all! But apparently, I did. And I must have watched a lot more of it than I thought I did.
I also played Underdog (I think I was Polly) and Scooby Doo with the neighbor kids.
