I have a funny feeling that in order to keep up with posts for this journal I will have to jot down the list of entries I want to write down.
I've had very little time to sit down and breathe over the work week, much less actually devote time to type up an LJ update. My recently finished days off weren't any better either due to: 1) a bit of a disaster involving Porkchop and Dad's laptop last Sunday evening which turned into an even bigger though thankfully averted disaster when me and Nate
_thenothing_ went to purchase a usb laptop. Long story short, we ended up spending an entire afternoon and the better part of an evening at the Compu Serve branch in Megamall; and 2) the amazing ability of Tiger and Bunny TRESE Force freaking Majeure ohgodit'snotevenarealshow recent and ressurected fandom obsessions to eat away at your time without you realizing it until much too late OTL
(Mind you, this entry was put together via AMP's Notepad option on various commutes to and from work.)
On one hand, it makes me go :| because I kind of have a tendency to go a little batshit insane when work > noey!time; but on a more positive note, it made me realize that the fact that I have to list down what I'd like to post here is something of a milestone. in being comfortable putting together entries again -- something that's been an on/off thing for me this last year and then some.
You see, I harbor a delusion would like to believe that my life is interesting. /cough
While entries that allow me to de-stress okay, okay, fine -- WHINE over work save my mind from imploding, they aren't exactly what I want this place to be all about (I have Plurk and the occasional tweet for that). Maybe it's conceit, but I would like to think that I have a broad enough range of interests that are not just engaging to me, but are interestig to others as well I am a commentspam whore, sue me.
(This naturally, may or may not include the fact that the incoherent flail I have been recently known to spew is apparently something certain friends you already know who you are pffffft enjoy provoking.)
So. Yes. Life Updates (not necessarily in chronological order):
{uno} Sunday, May 29 ~ Dinner at YakiMix
If you want a buffet of epic proportions, kindly proceed to YakiMix. I was there last Sunday from 6:30 'til closing because my uncle wanted to celebrate his birthday with family. Considering I rarely see him and my two aunts (they're all dad's younger siblings) even though we essentially live in the same part of the metro, I always look forward to catching up with them. More so now that they're all preparing to migrate to the US. :(
Anyway. :D
The place is HUGE. Don't let the fact that it looks tucked away in a little corner decieve you, because tiny restaurant it is not. There must've been over twenty families in there (and more were lined up outside waiting for seats) and roughly a third of those were there to celebrate birthdays. We know this because the staff did a string of birthday greetings throughout the evening.
The food was overwhelming in the sense that I had no idea where to start. I wasn't able to take pictures, but there was an entire table devoted to sushi and sashimi and maki and my parents lolled when I came back to our table with a plate full of 3-4 of possibly half of the offerings. Half, because I am a wuss and veered away from anything that I might be too wimpy to finish (wasabi maki, no thank you maybe next time). I loved the ones that had crunchy bits though, so the tempura, crunchy crab and crunchy tuna were heavy favorites.
We did yakiniku~ as a family. :) This was, by far, Neal's favorite bit. It was heaps of fun to watch him pick out what to bring back to grill and to see him grill them himself. I didn't get to try the salmon, but we tried a lot of other stuff (this will be my great excuse to go back at a later date asdkfghlk GUYSGUYSGUYS LET US SAVE FOR THIS Y/Y?). We had mostly meat and chicken, which was glorious. The slices were thin and the meat was so tender *^*. At some point I texted Bhex
dreamlessness that I felt like I'd died and gone to heaven XD
Also nabbed potato balls and something that resembled fried shrimp dimsum. I thankfully did not have to line up and wait for the tempura (my aunt was telling me about how this one lady practically emptied the damn plate onto her own) because Dad and Tito Ren would go get and include some for me in their plates x3
I didn't try the salads too much (okay, I mooched off Mom's plate), pretty much ignored the noodles (I didn't see any ramen so it was canton in various incarnations, but then I really wasn't looking) and didn't have rice outside of the maki.
There was also ice cream (*^* I am weaaaaak. It was chocolate and vanilla from Selecta okei?) and cake (haha, I just realized I didn't get to eat mine since Mom took it hahahahahaha-- orz) and leche flan (sub par, imho). There was a lot more but I'm not terribly inclined to candy and other sweets, but I can name a few people who might be interested in the array of macaroons, mini cupcakes, gummies and sprinkles that were just laid out for the taking.
I didn't experiment too much with drinks, even if apparently you have an option to switch if you've a mind to. They had blue lemonade, red iced tea, regular iced tea or your choice of soda. I stuck with the red.
I'd love to go back one of these days. :)
(That is a hint, by the way.)
{dos} May 20-23, 2011 ~ The Extended Weekend of Epic
This bit is long overdue, but I never got to properly document the shenanigans had when the ZyRiKang trio slept over so I will do this in bullets:
◦ Rika arrived close to 6pm with Khan in tow. We hung out in the living room and sat down to watch the rear end of The Last Samurai and discussed war tactics, weaponry and anime from our childhood and anime I am backlogged on and clerly must watch.
◦ Rika and I decided that the guy who played the Emperor in TLS reminded us of a younger-looking Massu *3*. We looked up his name on Wiki. LMAO.
◦ We all sat down to watch Coraline (sometime before this started we got word from Kang that she was just waiting for Zyn).
◦ Coraline finished. Still no sign of Zyn and Kang. :3 They showed up at the tail-end of the credits. There was much LULZING.
◦ Had dinner (Khan inluded), talked lots, teased each other lots. Told Zyn what a sheep without legs was and managed to survive Khan's impression of baby sister, elder brother and the Irish Man /desking forever my brain broke wtf
◦ Reported upstairs when Khan said bye-bye and pretty much got dressed for the start of a potentially epic marathon.
◦ We watched Beatrock Love which was unsubbed so Rika had to explain some stuff. At this point, Zyn is officially fascinated with the RikkaiMyu boys. X33333 /stage one, complete
◦ Bribed Rika into at least trying to watch FMR: First Service. Lots of lulzing and me getting an earful of teasing I swear Noey, why do you do this to yourself, hilarity over Taito singing "Closed Eye" (this is where Kang and Rika react that FUJI. YOUR EYES ARE ALWAYS CLOSED ANYWAY SO THIS IS IRRELEVANT), fangasming over Massu's awesome take on Yukimura, more flailing over Rikkai, more of Rika reacting badly cos this is Nationals and this never really made sense to us.
◦ discovered that Zyn mumbles in her sleep
◦ discovered that Porkchop adores cuddling beside Zyn and Kang
◦ rediscovered that sleep is more or less important, haha, marathon ttly denied
◦ woke up the next day at various intervals
◦ indulged in pizza that cost us half the price of what you'd normally pay for four 14-inch pizzas \o\
◦ introduced Zyn to the crack and lulz of HyouteiMyu (god, reminiscing much wtf)
◦ introduced Zyn to MORE MASSU EPIC CLIPS
◦ me attempting to delay them from leaving =\
◦ more flaily shenanigans with Rika while watching the backstage clips
◦ Mom joining us in enjoying the backstage clips
◦ me copying stuff out of Samekh for Yanagi
◦ Rika HIJACKING MY PLURK WTH orz
◦ sleep, sleep, sleep (the heat in the afternoons was murder)
◦ more shenanigans, lots of copying, lots of napping in the afternoon, ICE CREAM
◦ TIGER AND BUNNY
◦ more of Rika hijacking my Plurk
◦ lots more lulz
◦ introducing Rika to the first ep of PMK
◦ introducing Rika to the Poetry ep of PMK
◦ more Plurk!hijacking
◦ more flailing on my part
◦ more sleep
◦ plans for the next day
◦ watching an entire ep in sections of that internet radio show... thing
◦ lulz on Plurk
◦ McDonald's lunch with Zyn and Kang
◦ trying out the Haagen Dazs ice cream buffet which deserves it's own post
{tres} New tiny terrors for the family to look forward do;
A couple weeks ago my Tita Winnie sent me an email that sent me squeeing with utter joy to the rest of the house.
She's having twins. Identical boys. We've received confirmation on this because during her first email she and my Uncle Chris weren't sure. I am so proud and happy for her. So very looking forward to my new cousins coming into the world sometime next year. :)
{quatro} TIGER & BUNNY; or I will let the .gifs speak for themselves:

This is Barnaby Brooks. He's a superhero too.

Which... Barnaby obviously does not like.
They're supposed to be a team, really.
Did I mention this was reality TV?
