[update] what a silly little day;

Dec 27, 2008 14:37

I haven't updated in days, I suppose this was a good time as any.

First and foremost, belated Merry Christmas ♥, my lovelyies. Reading through your posts shows that it proved wonderful for the whole lot of you. :) May there be more Christmases like it in the future.

Been busy, busy, busy as of late - this year's Noche Buena was just the six of us at home (parents, my two brothers, myself and Punch, naturally). It was a fairly quiet celebration, something different from previous celebrations but no less fun. I am happy to report that my brothers liked their gifts and that the trips to the various malls proved successful. :)

Yesterday was spent at MoA with a whole slew of people - all of which I was happy to see. The day started with me meeting Kiribean at the MRT station. Took it all the way to EDSA before catching a jeep to the Mall of Asia. Spent the first hour and a half eating a breakfast of corned beef pandesal and a Jalapeno roll that Rika said would be wonderful. Had coffee - hers was a hot Toffee Nut latte while mine was my usual Praline Mocha - iced, of course.

Kam arrived sometime around 10:30. She brought her TF artbook with her (much flailing followed, naturally) and then Dee arrived, followed by Hope and Sammu respectively. There was catching up and a lot of talk on various topics before we finally headed over to the rink (big-ass rink that made me go all oO).

The verdict? I'm not quite sure I enjoy ice as much as inline, though that might simply be from the lack of skill on my part. :) It was great though, I'm hoping to have another go at it in the future, despite the fact that MoA is on the other end of the city and far, far, far away from my house. :)

Didn't manage to take pictures, but that's alright. I took plently afterwards when we ate at Fish & Co., that little windy interlude on one of the mall's outside bridgeways and at UCC (which serves a really good coffee parfait).

Still processing everything from yesterday, so I definitely owe a better post with pictures. Will do that maybe in a few days definitely a way to occupy myself at work this coming week.

Am currently downloading a movie that Bhex dreamlessness found for me while listening to my copy of Un Italiano Romance on loop. I was talking to her (B) sometime last week (or the week before that, maybe) about my recent interest in the Rennaisance period - though honestly, it consisted more of me poking around Youtube and Google for links to download a copy of "Dangerous Beauty", a film on the life of the Italian poetess and courtesan, Veronica Franco, which I was first introduced to by Sammu a few years back.

Ever since Kam got me hooked on Cesare over a month or so ago, and ever since I found the copy of Sarah Dunant's The Birth of Venus (Jill rednoctourne, a must-read for you bb) which Sammu had given me a year ago - I've been trying to track down anything and everything that might make up for the fact that updates aren't exactly very forthcoming for the manga. It's no fun, really, to be this drawn into something new only to check OneManga every single day in the hopes of seeing at least one new chapter update only to find that there are none.

Raws are hard to come by as well. Otherwise, if I did find more than the same things Kam managed to toss my way, I'd be somewhat satisfied.

Woke up to Bhex's text today - a simple "Noey, I plurked something for you" to find links to "Artemisa", a film focusing on the story of Italian Early Baroque painter, Artemisia Gentileschi. Quoting from Wikipedia: "In an era when women painters were not easily accepted by the artistic community, she was the first female painter to become a member of the Accademia di Arte del Disegno in Florence. She was one of the first female artists to paint historical and religious paintings, at a time when such heroic themes were considered beyond a woman's reach."

I'm not exactly the most well-versed of my peers in history - or at least, these particular periods since I'm known to have more of a leaning to all things Celtic - but I'm looking forward to when I finish downloading this film so that I can watch it and then afterwards, babble to Kam all about it since I've shared the links with her as well (download progress at 16% for part 3, hee). Besides, I guess it was long-coming, in a roundabout sort of way, if that's to be believed.

B, thank you. <3 This is awesomeness. Best thing to wake up to on a Saturday.

On other things. Am currently going through a non-fiction text that Kam told me about weeks ago. Its about the life of Cesare Borgia (Jill, relevant to interests bb, lemme know if you want the link - and we must talk, must plottage has ensued). Not reading it through it thoroughly just yet; skimming mostly, since am formatting it with the idea of printing it out and having it bound. Will make one copy for myself to make marginal notes on, while the first print will go to Kam, who brought it over to me and got me hooked on this whole new playground.

Leaving off for now. Being distracted by ideas.

this is my life
