I can report happily that I am done editing part two of the Nate's Project. It went longer but smoother than I expected. I cannot wait to get started on the rewrite - and it makes me want to go back and rewrite the first part. I'm worried the voice isn't quite equal, but it may work with the lead's comfort level.
