Declutter

I cleaned out my closet this week. I've done it before, but this one was a lot more drastic.I've never been able to do the whole "toss it if you haven't worn it in six months" thing. It's probably because some of the treasures that I've snagged from my mom that she was never able to throw away. She kept some great stuff from high school, but I heard about some of the stuff she didn't keep. It would've been awesome to grab some of the cool 70s stuff. I remember vowing I would never throw away anything cool.

Well, this week I found another solution. I got a great big Rubbermaid tub and put everything that I couldn't part with but never wear in it. That includes some of the great stuff I snagged from my mom. Maybe I'll wear it again or maybe Miranda will, but I know I can't get rid of it. it also includes T-shirts that are souvenirs but don't look particularly good on me, and things that have worn so many times that got holes in them are the elastic is gone or just look like crap on me. Part of the problem is that I've been wearing a lot of things look bad on me.Really old baggy T-shirts just come out of the closet all the time. I feel like I'm saving the good stuff for special occasions or something and wearing all the crap. The problem is I never end up wearing the good stuff. I just keep washing the crap and wearing it again. So it all went in the bin, or in a bag for goodwill.

One of the most difficult parts was determining which stuff I never wear because it looks bad or I'll have occasions over it's out of date, and which stuff I don't wear because and saving it, or don't wear but should anyway. That last part, that's a real issue. I could be dressing better, I have the ability, I have decent clothes, but I end up wearing other stuff. At some point I just got lazy.

So I cleaned out my closet. Hopefully, it will make me dress better.Either way, it's good to be a little more organized.
