I have always passionately hated Eragon. Why? Well, first of all, the title is one letter away from “Dragon”. Quite simply, it lacks originality, as this hilarious section of an article from oregonlive.com proves ( Read more... )

It was pretty bad. I kept thinking through the whole thing "didn't Star Wars do this? Wasn't this in LOTR?" I swear that they had the same exact house on the shire in this movie.

It was fun making fun of the movie with the person sitting next to me.

Were you... sitting next to Peggy? I've heard of her unique situation.

No, she was pretty quiet actually. I forget who I was trying to explain her situation to, and after about 5 metaphors, I just told them.

I liked the books. And yes, I realized how derivative they were. But I still liked them. I mean, they weren't great, but they did keep me reading.

I stopped the moment Eragon noticed that "underneath the elf lady's grime and dirt, she had fantastic curves." Just closed the book. BAM.

Oh my god that's an amazing line. The only way to make it better was say she had voluptuous curves. Wait...wasn't this written by a 15 year old? I thought I heard that somewhere...hm...I know where his mind is.

Possibly the best line in the movie:
The loss of my stone makes me suffer. Do not prolong my suffering.

And he said it in this flat and monotonous voice without any emotion whatsoever. It was kind of like Mick Jagger style acting, if that was the Ned Kelly movie you saw. It was horrible. And the evil guy looks like your dad. Just thought you might like to know.

Well, other than being a cliche, and possibly demeaning, what is wrong with that?

so, basically, don't go? perhaps i'll netflix it later.

speaking of star wars and netflix...half of my friends at college had never seen the original star wars. SERIOUSLY. so we had a New Hope party, and we'll finish the series next semester.

good story.
