monday afternoon and i'm wrapping up for the day. tonight, i'm going to cut the grass, have a quick dinner with erin before she heads off to band practice, and then meet up with some people from work at habits for a beer or two.
the tegan and sara show on friday was pretty good. i'm lukewarm on bogarts. the last clutch show i saw there was bad, mostly because tim sult's guitar was the only thing you could hear. of course we were upstairs and maybe that had something to do with it. but sharon jones was good, the july 20th clutch show was good, the english beat show was good, and now tegan and sara. there were lots of ladies kissing, which i suppose makes sense considering both tegan and sara are lesbians. julie had to get out of the crowd for a bit because she was too closed in, too hot, and i thought for a while she was going to pass out. in the end she was fine, but it was a few tense moments. erin and katie liked the show and before hand we had dinner at sorrento's with greg.
worked on saturday. i'm down to once a month at langen's now and i can't decide if i'll like that or not. on one hand, i'll have more time to spend with my friends, more time to plan the wedding with erin, and more time to get the yard fixed up. but i honestly like working there most of the time. it's just not something i want to do full time. i feel more like myself when i'm there, more at ease, and certainly happier when i come home. you don't bring anything with you....there's no email to check on weekends or meetings to stress over and prepare for.
speaking of jobs, though, we did a good deal of interviewing these past few weeks for an empty position on one of my teams. i was fairly instrumental in the process and the final decision, which was new for me. but the trouble is that the final two candidates were really, really good and only one can get the job. it seems cliched to say you want both people to get the job, but i really do feel that way.
chicago this coming weekend: eddie izzard on friday night and the cure on saturday. on top of that it's erin's birthday, so it should be a good, silly weekend.
no further word on the church band. we're supposed to practice this week and as of yet it hasn't happened. the communication is terrible.
yesterday afternoon, i finally finished the third draft of a short story i've been plunking out for the better part of a month. it's not perfect yet, but it's getting there. a few more edges to sand down and i'll probably send it to blade or anyone else who wants to read it and get some feedback. hopefully draft four is the end of it.
now to bigg's with erin and then homeward bound, as paul and art said.
