Exhilaration! Excitement! Adrenaline! Smoke Alarms! Wait, what?

Today was interesting.
I normally have three hours of class - a Literature tute that runs for two hours, and a one hour History tute. However, due to the Labour Day long weekend that gave us Monday off, the Literature tute was cancelled because the other one that normally runs on Mondays wouldn't be on. So, I got a decent sleep-in, and then had one hour of discussing the recent trend of governments and organisations apologising for stuff. Quite interesting, actually, but my history tutes generally are. We have some awesome discussions without devolving into childish arguments. I love it.

Anyway. I came back from that, went into town for lunch with a friend, then came back to uni. Then bummed around in my room for an hour, listening to music on the headphones, pretending to attempt to write something, the usual. Then the smoke alarm went off. Not that I noticed at first through my headphones, and they were only set on 15%. Which is really dangerous because I could have burned to death or something in the time it took for me to realise the alarm was going off, but that's neither here nor there. At any rate, there were three of us home (our cottage holds eight, and there is one vacancy, so there's normally seven of us residing in our cottage) and we all evacuated quite quickly, and went to let security know our alarm was going off.

The air conditioning was switched back on last week, since we're coming into the middle of spring and it's starting to warm up quite nicely now. And it turns out that when switching over from heating to cooling, the maintenance guys hadn't actually turned off the gas supply for the heater. And it was the gas burning that set off the smoke alarm. Fortunately the security guy turned off the gas manually, and he's going check what the hell is going on with maintenance. Still, this is somewhat concerning in light of the fact that yesterday we had some sort of locaslised blackout that affected the common room and two other bedrooms in the cottage. And the same smell of burning that accompanied today's gas incident was present yesterday during this blackout. Fortunately yesterday was just a tripped circuit breaker, but I'm worried as to what's going to happen tomorrow.

On a more positive note, I have all of tomorrow off and I'm getting a long overdue haircut. Prior to today, the haircut was going to be the highlight of my week. My life, it could be a action movie. I bet it would rake in BILLIONS at the box office. Billions of yawns, at any rate. A music spam post, where I inflict you all with my spastic taste in music via way too many Youtube links, will probably be up sometime later in the week. Tomorrow or Friday, most probably.

P.S. Anyone who cares, I got those assignments finished! \o/
