Surgery Update

Sep 19, 2003 12:09

I went to the jaw surgeon today. He didn't give me any specific details (he still has to look at the x-rays and the models of my teeth), but he gave me some procedures and options to think about. He said there was a very slight chance that I won't have to be wired after all, but I'm not gonna count on it. My jaws are very tiny, so they're going to have to do a lot of moving around. He said that the best option would be to work with both jaws simultaneously. He even pulled out a skull ("George" he called it) to illustrate what could happen during the surgery. ("George," by the way, is a real skull...not a model. It was a little weird to be staring at an actual dead person's bones, but that's besides the point.)

For insurance reasons, the surgery needs to be done by October 10th, so we need to get moving. The insurance isn't covering as much as we had hoped it would, though, so I'm a little nervous. But I guess the only thing that I can do now is hope and pray that it will work out for the best.

So, I suppose that's it. Thanks for listening. Until next time,
JAZZY
