-DEFIANT EYES, ANGRY MOUTH-

PART B
On the next day Sungmin attended class for the first time.
The brunet watched in wonder as a pair after pair of guardians and wolves sauntered past them and exchanged friendly greetings. Sungmin listened carefully at every single detail Hankyung had to give about the school corridors, classrooms, other wolves and guardians and even some teachers. Sungmin got to know that most of the teachers were wolves and the only teachers which weren’t wolves were the wolf-teacher’s guardians. Also, Sungmin was quite relieved to realize that in the end there were also some non-gay couples here and there.
“I’ll explain you someday why it’s more handy to have a guardian of the same sex. It’s actually kind of interesting.” the Chinese male had just said with a mysterious tone and they had dropped the subject.
During the day Sungmin soon realized that the school they went to in M-school was quite drastically different compared to S-highschool. First of all, they had formal school days only three times a week. This was solely for the purpose, that the guardians and wolves would have the time to take care of their own respective duties. And when they would have a normal school day, it was a basic requirement that the wolves and guardians would attend class from 8AM to at least 7PM. All the subjects were taught during one day, and when midday rolled past and they had their lunch, Sungmin felt ready to faint due to the pure overdose of information he had gotten during one morning and afternoon.
“Eat up, you need it.” Hankyung said encouragingly as they sat down to the cafeteria with their trays. Sungmin picked his chopsticks unenthusiastically and started to pick at the food.
“First I thought that this would be easy because three days of school in a week is supposed to be easy.” the male shook his head and chewed his rice in thought. “I think I’m going to sleep the next two days in a row. “
Hankyung laughed at that and took a bite of the carrot he had grabbed with him when going past the vegetable section of the lunch lines. Sungmin stared as the Chinese male munched the vegetable with a surprising appetite. Finally the brunet couldn’t hold his curiosity any longer but blurted out the question he had been itching to ask for a good while now.
“How is it possible for you to eat vegetables? Don’t you have like….a wolf’s digestion system?” The male asked, his eyebrows slightly lifted and Hankyung looked at him a while with an amused expression. He bit another piece of his carrot before answering.
“Well, I do have a wolf’s digestion system, but I also have a human digestion system. To maintain my energy levels, I need to keep both, the wolf and the human content, otherwise my health will collapse, because I’ll start starving even if I would eat normally in the other form.” the Chinese male explained and Sungmin continued to look at him curiously and munched his rice.
“So will you have pieces of meat as a dessert or…” Sungmin asked, a slight smile on his lips and Hankyung bursted out laughing.
“No, of course not! Raw meat would have me puking for a week in this form. The wolf part of me starts to get hungry only in about two weeks after the last feeding, but usually we do some small hunting trips with the other wolves once in a week and every two weeks we travel for a longer period, usually we hunt for at least three or four days then.” Hankyung said and Sungmin’s eyes widened.
“Are the guardians present when you hunt?” The male asked curiously and Hankyung shook his head immediately.
“If the guardians would be there, they would be regarded as food as much as a deer would be regarded as food. It’s not safe. When we hunt, we go so deep into our hunting instinct that we are more wolves than humans on that specific moment.” The male said nonchalantly and Sungmin’s jaw fell at that.
“B-but how can you know that there won’t be any innocent people wandering around the forest?” the younger man asked with a shocked tone, but Hankyung just continued to eat and waved his hand to some of his acquaintances who walked past their table just then.
“The forest is enchanted so that outsiders can’t get in. There are actually several different wolf packs hunting in that forest, but we have agreed on a special timetable when the different packs can hunt, so that fights won’t ensue.” Hankyung said and as Sungmin continued stare at him, his mouth agape, the Chinese male frowned. “What?”
“You…there…..Are there actually OTHER places where wolfs reside other than this??!” Sungmin asked with bewildered tone and Hankyung lifted his other eyebrow.
“Nobody ever said that there wouldn’t be. There are at least ten schools in South Korea which are housing us wolves.” The Chinese male said and started to gobble down his food, leaving Sungmin gaping there in front of him. However, as the younger male followed Hankyung’s example and started to eat properly again, he couldn’t stop himself from examining the wolf sitting opposite from him.
How much more information was there about the wolf-organization that he didn’t even know? When they took their dishes to the rack reserved for them and started to walk back towards the corridors where all the classrooms were located, Sungmin finally started to realize the full extent of his duty there. He let Hankyung lead them along the corridor, towards the laboratories and Sungmin only vaguely noticed that Donghae and Eunhyuk were standing there, apparently waiting for the class to start.
“Oh, hello Sungmin, How’s your nose?” Donghae asked, his eyes twinkling mischievously and the older male snorted and touched the bandage on the bridge of his nose.
“Oh, just peachy. Hankyung cracked it on its right place.” Sungmin said with a nonchalant wave of his hand and Donghae gaped.
“Oh my god, doesn’t that hurt like a bitch?” This received him a murderous glare.
“Oh you don’t say?!” the man growled and Hankyung let out an amused laugh at that.
“He actually fainted after I tackled him to the ground and put the nose the right way.” the Chinese male chuckled and Sungmin punched him to his shoulder blade. Donghae and Eunhyuk laughed at the bickering between the two males and started to make their way towards the classroom which had been opened by the teacher when they hadn’t been looking. Hankyung and Sungmin followed them, stopping their bickering,
However, just before they reached the door, Sungmin felt how the floor started to rock under him and he slammed his hand against the wall beside him, seeking some kind of support. Hankyung turned around to look why had the younger male stopped, and his eyes widened as he realized the situation. The guardian started to pant heavily and sweat started to form on his forehead, as if he would’ve been exercising heavily for the past two hours. Sungmin’s eyes went unfocused and his stomach churned and lurched, forcing him to swallow the traces of sick on his throat. Hankyung was walking towards him, saying something incomprehensible and Sungmin’s eyes went frantic as the sensation started to spread from the mark on his neck to his skin with every step Hankyung took closer to him.
Sungmin started to back away, unable to form words but Hankyung stopped anyway as he saw the warning in the younger male’s body language. The teacher came outside and asked something from Hankyung with a worried voice and the Chinese male answered with even tone. Sungmin panted heavily and leaned his whole body weight on the wall beside him.
The teacher listened to Hankyung intently and when the male stopped his explanation, he must have convinced the teacher that everything was under control as the man retreated back to the classroom and closed the door after himself, stopping the prying eyes from seeing what was going on in the hallway. Hankyung turned to look at his guardian with his eyebrows furrowed and Sungmin lifted his unfocused eyes to look at the taller man.
Sungmin’s panic level was steadily starting to rise as he realized that all the sensations weren’t going away like on the previous evening, but started to intensify with a steady rhythm. Hankyung had started to take small steps forward and Sungmin’s eyes widened in horror as a new spike of electricity shot through his skin and forced him to fall on his knees with a silent cry. The Chinese male walked forward his expression getting more and more worried with each passing second, and as he tried to reach out his hand to touch his guardian protectively, Sungmin let out a yell of warning and pushed himself further away from the wolf, panic evident in his brown orbs.
As Sungmin tried to get a control of his breathing and eyesight, he tried to recall the previous evening when this had happened last time. The male felt how sweat drops fell to the collar of his shirt and he had to close his eyes to stop the world from moving around himself.
He had been sitting on the floor of the gym and Hankyung had pulled him up. Then the dizziness had hit him and after it dissipated some, Hankyung’s touch made him react immediately.
Sungmin’s eyes snapped open and breath hitched as he realized the connection and the shaking in his limbs got even more vicious. How hadn’t he realized it sooner?
He had touched Hankyung the previous night when the male had pulled him up. He had touched Hankyung now when he had punched him on the shoulder blade. The touch was the key. He hadn’t noticed it before because he hadn’t touched the older male not even once during that day.
In fact, he had avoided all kind of physical contact with him, because the memory of last night kept on haunting him, but as the day had passed, he had gradually forgotten it completely, therefore resulting in the careless punch he had given to the Chinese male.
“…Sungmin, I swear to god I’m going to take you to your dorm room and inspect you for some kind of disease if you won’t talk to me now.” Hankyung’s worried voice swam through Sungmin’s head and the younger male lifted his head to look at the standing male with glazed eyes, still panting heavily.
“....this….will go……away….” the male hissed through his teeth and lowered his head to lean it to the wall beside him. His whole body felt feverish as he tried to gain the control of his breathing again and as the minutes passed his heart rate got even faster as he started to panic.
“Sungmin calm down and breathe normally. If I’m seeing correctly, this is exactly the same thing that happened yesterday. You need to calm down.” The Chinese male’s soothing words made the younger male shoot him a glance and clutch at the sleeves of his shirts with enough force to turn his knuckles completely white.
Then it stopped.
The lack of sensations left Sungmin gasping for air and leaning his whole weight to the wall behind him. His stomach lurched painfully and before he could even think about rising up and running for the nearest toilet, he was already heaving to the floor, forcing Hankyung to jump out of the way.
“Sungmin, we need to get you to your dorm, I’m seriously going to examine you. This isn’t normal.” the Chinese male growled angrily and stepped forward to lift Sungmin up from his arm, but the younger male started to back away again, trying to clear his vision once again and wiping the sweat off his brow.
“I’m fine! Really, I’m fine! My stomach is just reacting to the rice I ate at lunch. I haven’t really eaten rice during the past days and I usually react like this…” the younger male sighed in relief as Hankyung stopped in his tracks to think about the lie Sungmin just spat out of his mouth and narrowed his eyes.
“It doesn’t explain why you acted exactly the same as yesterday evening. I thought that it was due to the lack of food, but this is a clear indication that it has nothing to do with the food.” Hankyung said, his eyes nailing the younger male to the wall behind him. Sungmin sighed heavily and after he managed to stop his limbs from quivering, he lifted his body up from the floor and closed his eyes for a minute to stop the floor rom shaking.
“The truth is, I haven’t really slept either. I guess this is just….a reaction to that.” Sungmin opened his eyes and looked at Hankyung, his eyebrows furrowed. “I’m serious. Let me take care of this my own way. I don’t need help from you or not from anybody” The younger male looked at the puddle of sick on the floor and sighed.
“Go to class, I’ll be there in a minute. Need to clean up.” Sungmin muttered under his breath and Hankyung stared at him, obviously trying to gauge out the truth from the younger male. After a while, the Chinese man sighed heavily through his nose and turned around to walk to the classroom.
“This isn’t over. I’m going to be having a close eye on you. “
Sungmin looked how the man disappeared behind the heavy wooden door and sighed heavily, closing his eyes.
How much could he take before the whole thing would come tumbling down?

A silent knock on Sungmin’s door made him flinch and look around, completely distorted. Looking at the clock, he cursed heavily and stood up from the chair he had been sitting on and stretched his stiff muscles. He had actually managed to fall asleep during his homework-doing. With uneven steps he made his way to the his dorm’s door and opened it carefully, only to reveal Hankyung on the other side of the door, and unreadable expression on his face.
“What is it? Has something happened?” Sungmin asked immediately, his bows furrowed and Hankyung shook his head reassuringly.
“Don’t worry it’s nothing serious, but may I come in for a while?” the Chinese male asked, his expression still giving absolutely nothing away and Sungmin stepped wordlessly to the side, giving the taller male free access to the big room.
“Were you doing your homework?” the Chinese male asked silently after Sungmin had closed the door and walked to where the taller man was standing. Sungmin chuckled awkwardly.
“Yeah, I was but I kind of…fell asleep in the middle…” Sungmin’s laugh died away as he saw the serious expression on Hankyung’s face. Sungmin averted his gaze and walked over to the table where all the books were randomly littered around and started to collect them.
“Well, what did you want? I’m kind of tired and would like to go to sleep soon…” the male said with fake cheerfulness, but couldn’t quite hide the crack which resounded in his voice. Hankyung sighed heavily at this, but didn’t say anything.
“I managed to convince Kyuhyun about tutoring you.” the Chinese male said with a quiet tone and Sungmin turned around, his expression skeptical.
“Seriously? I thought he wouldn’t want to even see me after the….library incident where he made it quite clear that he doesn’t want to have anything to do with me….” the younger male said with a snort and Hankyung shrugged.
“It was just a matter of persuasion really, nothing more.” the Chinese male said with a shrug and Sungmin nodded wordlessly. A silence stretched between them and after Sungmin had arranged his books properly, he just couldn’t ignore the awkward silence between them anymore.
“Umm…did you have something else to say?” the younger male asked with a slightly nervous voice and the Chinese male kept quiet. Sungmin was just about to blurt something extremely rude out of his mouth, but Hankyung started to speak again.
“I’ll be leaving for a hunting trip with some of the other wolves from here tomorrow morning.” Hankyung lifted his eyes to look at Sungmin with his eyebrows furrowed. “We will be gone for at least four or five days.” the wolf looked at Sungmin, who still had his back turned to him, but after a while, the younger male turned around to look at the older male.
“Oh, that’s nice. Don’t eat so much that they have to start carrying you.” Sungmin let out a small laugh and walked towards his wardrobe, intending to go and fetch some fresh clothes for the next day, but Hankyung’s next words stopped him.
“Now it would be the best time to tell me about these weird seizures you have been having, because I won’t be here for the next five days.” the Chinese male walked forward so that he was now standing only a couple of feet away from Sungmin’s back. “Meaning, that the only one capable of treating you when you need it will be gone for the next five days.” Sungmin’s brows furrowed at this and he bit his lip nervously.
It would be okay. The attacks wouldn’t come to him if Hankyung wouldn’t be there. He would be okay. No need to tell the older male.
“Seriously, they were nothing. I just need to sleep a bit tonight and everything will return to being just fine.” the younger male said with a cheerful voice and turned around to face the Chinese male. Hankyung was downright glaring at him by now, but the younger male ignored it, and ignored the pang of worry which hit him at the same time.
But what if something happened after all? Who would be there to help him?
Hankyung’s sigh brought Sungmin back from his thoughts, and he was almost getting ready to face the interrogation Hankyung’s was going to make him go through, but his eyes widened in surprise as the Chinese male just walked to the door and turned around to look at him with a funny expression.
“Meet Kyuhyun tomorrow at the genetics library around noon.” The man opened the door, but before closing it, he turned around once more and smiled a bit. “I guess I’ll see you in five days then.”
Sungmin felt the pang of worry turn into downright fear as he looked how Hankyung closed the door behind him, leaving the younger man standing there in the middle of the dorm, hands clenched to knuckles.

“What are you expecting me to do?”
Sungmin’s eyes flew open at the smooth sound coming from somewhere near him. His skin felt like it would’ve been built from millions and millions of ants, some of them biting him, making his skin crawl and tickle. He gasped loudly and felt how his knees hit the soft surface of the grass underneath his feet, and his eyes darted around wildly, taking in the details of his surroundings.
He was on the same forest clearing where he had seen Hankyung in his wolf form for the first time. Sungmin let his eyes wander on the green foliage and his heart rate calmed down slightly.
He had nothing to fear. He was at home.
“Where are you?” Sungmin’s voice sounded distant, as if he wouldn’t have been there to speak it. The trees around him started to shake with a silent gust of wind, and Sungmin listened closely, letting his eyes take in every speck of movement.
However, it wasn’t his eyes which let him find the source of the voice. His mark started to heat up, making him let out a silent cry, but not from pain. Sungmin’s eyes started to dart even more wildly around the clearing and he tried to stop the insistent shivers climbing up and down his whole posture.
Finally, he found him.
Hankyung was standing at the edge of the clearing, his whole posture relaxed, and as Sungmin looked at him more closely, he got slightly unnerved as he realized that couldn’t determine whether the Chinese male was part of the tree behind him or not. As the tall male started to walk forward, Sungmin gasped loudly when the man hit the sunlight.
He could’ve sworn he had seen a wolf walking towards him, not Hankyung.
The tall male came to a halt before Sungmin’s slumping posture and kneeled down in front of him. Sungmin looked at him, almost in complete daze when the Chinese male lifted his hand to touch the mark gently and Sungmin’s eyes widened in surprise before the shockwaves hit him.
He couldn’t hold down the wanton moan which escaped his mouth at the contact. His cheeks grew flushed, eyes unfocused and all the blood in his body seemed to start circulating around one particular place. Sungmin shivered furiously, he started to feel feverish and before he even noticed it, he was leaning to the Chinese male before him with his whole weight, gripping his biceps like a drowning man.
Hankyung’s silent chuckle reverberated in his chest as Sungmin leaned to him, posture shaking with need and he moaned again as the Chinese male’s breath ghosted above his ear like a caress, making the smaller male steadily leak precum to his thin pajama pants.
“I need you to tell me Sungmin…” feather light touches on Sungmin’s sides, lick on his neck, ghosting breath above his collarbone. ”…. What are you expecting me to do?”
The small male tightened his grip on the taller male’s biceps and let out a wailing whimper. His skin started to feel like it would start walking on its own soon and as Hankyung’s small puffs of breath traveled along his skin, he was practically ready to start dry-humping something. Immediately.
“…I won’t know what you want if you won’t tell me, Sungmin…” the small male looked in wonder as Hankyung’s features kept on changing. He made Sungmin feel almost inadequate as his god-like features mirrored the constant beauty of a forest. The brunet felt how a tremor passed through him like a gust of wind and he looked at Hankyung, his eyes pleading.
“…T-touch…me….anywhere….I don’t care. Make….this go away….” the male whispered breathily to the Chinese man’s shoulder, but as he tried to calm himself down, he suddenly realized that his face was touching the green grass underneath and Hankyung was starting to walk away. Sungmin let out a distressed sound in his throat and tried to stand up, but with a silent cry he fell back on the grass, limbs shaking violently from the non-existent exertion. Hankyung chuckled silently.
“It’s too soon for you. You need to wait a bit. Then you’ll find what you’ve been searching for.” Hankyung’s back disappeared to the foliage like he wouldn’t have been there in the first place and Sungmin felt how tears of distress fell from his eyes.
He started to scream in agony.

Running footsteps made their way through the otherwise relatively empty corridors. Doors were opened with loud bangs and loud cursing ensued when the rooms ended up being empty. The male kept on running, and his steps grew more determined as he recognised some voices coming from the lunchroom.
“Donghae!” The man yelled from the top of his lungs and the two males standing in the room turned to look at him with bewildered expressions.
“Kyuhyun? What has happened? You look like you would’ve seen a ghost.” Hyukjae said with a slight smile and received a vicious sneer as an answer.
“Who else didn’t go for a hunting trip with Hankyung and the others, aside from me and you?” The man asked with a hasty voice and Donghae’s frown deepened.
“What has happened? Has somebody gotten hurt?” The male asked with a worried tone and Kyuhyun bit his lip in contemplation before waving for them to follow him. They took off running and Kyuhyun talked while their made their way up the stairs, towards the dorm-corridors.
“Hankyung came to speak with me last night about the tutoring he would’ve liked Sungmin to have. I promised him that I’d agree to see Sungmin today, to see how fast learner he is, and he promised me that Sungmin would definitely come.” they arrived to the corridor where Sungmin’s room was located. Donghae’s expression was starting to get more and more worried as they stopped before the wooden door to Sungmin’s dorm.
“When I arrived to the library where we agreed to meet around noon, there weren’t any traces of him. I waited and when I had waited over an hour, I decided that enough is enough.” the man furrowed his brows. “I decided to pay him a visit, and I found….” he opened the door carefully and covered his nose instantly, Eunhyuk doing the same with a pained groan and Donghae looked at them in bewilderment before turning to look inside the dorm, his eyes widening in horror.
“Oh my god.”
Everything was ripped apart. The bed looked like somebody had let a bunch of kindergartners jump on it for ten hours straight. Mats were all rumpled, curtains had been ripped down from the windows and the wardrobe had fallen over. Donghae made his way through the room in shock and made his way towards the toilet, slowing down a bit as he heard silent gasps coming from there. Kyuhyun and Eunhyuk stood there awkwardly, hands covering their noses.
The brunet made his way inside the room and his eyes widened in shock as he saw the mess the bathroom was in and then he saw his best friend.
Sungmin’s whole body was covered with a thin layer of sweat, he was panting and a full-body flush covered his skin. His pupils were dilating furiously and he looked at Donghae with unfocused eyes. He was gripping the seat of the toilet, his knuckles turning white and he let out a strained gurgle out of his throat as he finally recognized his best friend.
“Donghae…I’m scared…” the sound came out as a strangled whisper and Donghae felt how a pang of fear hit his insides.
“Come on, let’s get you out of here…” the man said with a soothing voice, masking his own fear efficiently. With careful movements he swung Sungmin’s left arm around his shoulders and started to walk him towards the main room.
Kyuhyun and Eunhyuk stood awkwardly at the door, looking at the obvious distress Sungmin was in and Kyuhyun frowned, turning to look at Eunhyuk.
“We need to stop all kind of movement in this wing. As long as Hankyung is gone, Sungmin is in constant danger. There are other wolves here who don’t know about this and might let their instincts get over. Kyuhyun sighed heavily.
“It was a way too close call when I just barged in and the scent hit me straight in the face. It was so close that I almost phased completely because of it.” Donghae let Sungmin slump on the bed and turned around to glare at the two males, his hands clenched into fists.
“What the fuck is going on here?! What are you talking about? Why is he like this, why are the other wolves a danger to him?” Donghae asked with his eyes darting viciously between the two men and they exchanged looks before Eunhyuk opened his mouth.
“ The reason why you don’t know about this because you never actually went through this phase in your adjustment time. I gave you the mark so late that you were already….umm….” Eunhyuk scratched his neck awkwardly and cleared his throat. “…well, having sex with me.”
“Hankyung put the mark on Sungmin way too soon. Even though there is slight attraction between them, their emotional connection is far from stable. That’s why this is really bad.” Kyuhyun said heavily and Donghae frowned.
“What the hell does that even mean?!” Kyuhyun lifted his eyes to look at Sungmin silently before he turned to stare at Donghae with a dull expression.
“When the mark is put to you, you’ll start needing the steady income of the wolf bacteria, otherwise the stability will be disturbed.” Kyuhyun closed his eyes and Eunhyuk started to look even more awkward. “However, the usual mechanism in this is, that before the stability is too greatly disturbed, the guardian will go into this special…state, which makes it almost impossible for the wolf to NOT give the bacteria to the guardian.
Donghae’s eyes widened in shock as he realized the situation and he turned to look at his best friend on the bed, who was still panting heavily, eyes closed and brows furrowed.
“So you mean that Sungmin is having this….whatever it’s called?” Donghae asked silently and both of the wolves nodded, faces solemn. Kyuhyun snorted unhappily.
“I guess we should go and get Hankyung back from the hunting trip to congratulate him.” the male turned to look at the withering man on the bed sheets.
“Sungmin is going through his first heat.”
