Literature Entry Week 9

Week Nine Week Nine, what to do with Week Nine….

Well, the week before study week, yay, could do with the break!! So this week I thought I’d post some of the creative pieces that I had started writing in the time I use procrastinating!! In the lecture this week Michael spoke about George Orwell’s Politics of the English Language and the need for a language that connects us to our own truth. It got me thinking, along with things that were happening for me outside of the world of literature, about just how powerful and truthful the words we speak can be. It’s a cross between a poem and a rant nearly haha.

So the cliché goes,

ACTIONS! Speak louder than words

a HUG

a SMILE

a GLANCE

                                                                    a TEAR

a TOUCH

In one moment, any single action can mean the world: evoking of comfort, happiness, joy, love. We can gather these intentions from such actions. BUT hearing, directly, the intended motives and meanings can have an impact immeasurable to actions. To forgo words, in place of actions, is to underestimate the immensity of the power of language!

I LOVE YOU

I’M SORRY

I BELIEVE IN YOU

I’M HERE FOR YOU

YOU ARE NOT ALONE

EVERYTHING WILL BE OKAY

WE WILL GET THROUGH THIS

THINGS WILL NEVER CHANGE

JUST GET OVER IT

NOBODY CARES AOUT YOU

LEAVE ME ALONE

YOU’RE WORTHLESS

YOU DESERVE IT

I HATE YOU

It is true that sticks and stones may break your bones but words, words are much more powerful.  From simple to elaborate expression, the impact is always affective in some way.

By Michelle Kennedy

“Handle them carefully, for words have more power than atom bombs” [1]
