I spent a good few hours sitting on my lap top reading your beautiful, mammoth story and love it! Saved the link for further reading in the future (plus it was definitely more interesting than doing housework or powerpoint presentations!!). Well done and sent kudos on AO3
CONGRATULATIONS ON GETTING THIS FINISHED AND POSTED AND ON IT BEING SO AMAZING! You already know I love this, but I'm going to read the whole thing again when I get the chance and comment on the fic properly. Until then, *applauds you*
I think I am starting to lack adjectives to describe our collab ^o^
When I drew the one page comic I used for the art claim, I didn't expect it would become...THIS, I mean, a 102 000 word fic full of angst and humor, an emotional roller coaster for the Steve/Tony shipper ^^ It's more than I could have imagined! I still can't believe you wrote a novel in one month, that this one tiny page inspired you so much! ^^ It's truly amazing, YOU are truly amazing!
Thank you so much for your very very hard work, your support and your squee during those two months \o/ It was super awesome ^o^
Oh, the Malibu reference - that was a new thing I introduced, it wasn't 100% from the comics. ♥ You weren't supposed to find out what had happened in Malibu until Chapter 18. :) (In the comics, it was one of Iron Man's enemies that attacked a pregnant Pepper. I just borrowed the concept and added extra angst. Um.)
...you're not the first to ask for a steamy coda. I TRIED TO PLOT ONE. I DID. But Steve and Tony both did everything they could to thwart it. I threw the outline to the side in disgust when they both ended up half-naked in a freezer. Maybe I'll pick it up again later, though. ♥
I'm glad you liked it, and I'm glad not knowing who some of the smaller players were didn't stop you from enjoying the UST. Which to be fair, is the main part of it all. ♥ So yay. \o/
I think I just like hurting Bruce. HE MAKES SUCH A PRETTY TARGET. ♥
I probably had a couple too many meta jokes in there, but never mind! If you can't put references to amuse yourself in a giant fanfic, where can you put them? (Where you probably should put them: in your own head where no one can see them, lol.)
There... might be a follow-up? :) My fanfic schedule is jampacked until mid-November, though, so I can't even really think about it. :( (Marvel-bang, avengers-xbb, inception-bang. \o/ I HAVE A PROBLEM OKAY.)
Agh, this story is so amazing. And there are few things that, though I know what was coming, killed me. The part with "By the time Steve comes back, Tony's dead." was definitely one of those. I got legit chills down my spine because of that sentence. And it IS in the summary already so it's not a surprise, but still.
I love it, love it, love it and I love the illustrations to this so much too!
Thank you! ♥ That was one of the first sentences I wrote for this, because I wanted to do a twist on how that sort of phrase is used in legit angst death fics (and really, for part of it, from Steve's POV it is one of those angsty death fics. Sorry, Steve.) And then writing for the glorious gravestone illustration soon after, it was an amazing experience. You have no idea how glad I am now that everyone has access to those pictures! It was driving me wild that only I got to enjoy them! ♥
I'm glad you enjoyed it. And I'm glad that - by the sounds of it - you love the illustrations nearly as dearly as I do. ♥
I can really see that being the foundation of the whole story actually. It just has so much everything in it. Poor Steve for sure. I wouldn't have it any other way though. Because when they do finally get together it feels even better!
The gravestone illustrations are absolutely breath-taking. They are so well drawn and the content... Poor Steve again, having to go through the loss of another person he has lost. I love the illustrations so much. Not many illustrations get me from 0 to tears so fast.
