Year-End Memes of 08!

Jan 01, 2009 11:28

Because this will end up being NEXT year's first sentence- I DECLARE 2009 the YEAR OF ART SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First sentence meme:

January: I declare 2008 the Year of the Camera and Art! YAY! *celebrates*

February: Went to go stalk rally driver yesterday.

March: Okay... it is semi-official... (This SOOO did not go anywhere...)

April: OMG! It rained today and turned a muggy damn 80+ degree day into a 60 degree NIGHT!

May: It's finally happened. (This is actually from the journal entry that significantly affected the rest of my year hereafter.)

June: Had an okay weekend.

July: Dr. Sketchy is on July 13th at Avant Garden, 411 Westheimer, Houston from 2-6 pm.

August: I know no one cares about my headphones, but music is my life, so it had to be posted... (STILL fighting with this... Boo.)

September: Didn't do a whole lot of anything interesting this weekend.

October: So one of my co-workers misinformed me that our favorite 80's cover band was playing at a local club tonight... only for EVERYONE to cancel and I end up there by myself- looking all good-lookin' and hot and everything- to discover that they're in San Antonio.... (Seriously! I looked GOOD!)

November: So this week took FOREVER! and yet.... before I knew it, it was Friday.

December: Stolen from ronikka!

I really didn't blog a lot last year. I contribute it to a lack of interesting enough things to talk about but also, I just felt so BUSY last year!

YEAR IN REVIEW

1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?

Got accepted to college, submitted a portfolio to a college, moved my job to a new building, started attending a "life drawing" class, made a latex mold, stayed home alone during a hurricane & completed a FAFSA application!

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

Nope- I don't make them anymore, but I ~did~ declare 2008 the Year of the Camera and Art and I DID keep THAT goal. I took LOTS of pictures, but I REALLY blew my expectations away with my production of MASSIVE amounts of art and a portfolio!

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

My best friends parents had a son with a surrogate. Granted, I don't ~think~ that counts, but I think I know only one other person who had a baby and these people are a lot closer to me than she is.

4. Did anyone close to you die?

Does Heath Ledger count? Because that really hurt. Our beautiful Siamese cat, Mikimoto (aka: 'Miki'). My i-pudd 2.0. My headphones... TWICE!

5. What countries did you visit?

None, sadly.

6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?

An acceptance letter to CalArts? XD But seriously, more self-confidence and motivation.

7. What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

December 1st. CalArts portfolio preferred deadline.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Definitely submitting my portfolio.

9. What was your biggest failure?

Tough one. Probably something to do with college or not getting my Christmas cards painted, I suppose.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

Several times.

11. What was the best thing you bought?

My headphones?

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?

All of my best friends. They're all in college and being cool and stuff.

Some coworkers who stole from a womens shelter.

Bills.

WALL-E!!!!!!!!!!!

16. What song will always remind you of 2008?

I think Peter Gabriel's Signal to Noise.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

i. happier or sadder? Happier, I suppose.
ii. thinner or fatter? Fatter, but hopefully by next year this answer will have changed!
iii. richer or poorer? Poorer... stupid economy.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?

Art, saved money & seen friends.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?

23. How many one-night stands?

None, thank you very much!

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

Finishing a couple of projects on time.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?

Hole-y (from work). Otherwise, minimal and dork-ified! XD

My grandparents. Friends who still aren't talking to me. Friends who moved away.

38. Who was the best new person you met?

The organizer of Houston's Dr. Sketchy?

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008:

Fear will never help you accomplish ANYTHING. In fact, all it really does is keep you from striving for your dreams. Determination and support from those you love are much better forces to help you achieve the things you desire. If you want something bad enough, bite the bullet and TRY! The worst thing that can happen is that you will fail. If it happens, stand up- dust yourself off and TRY AGAIN! And if you succeeded, look back and realize how far you've come. Suddenly nothing will ever seem so impossible ever again.- I DECLARE 2009 the YEAR OF ART SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In other news, my headphones are broken.... AGAIN! I have sent an email to the company... here's hoping I can somehow get them repaired again...
