Day wasted

So, I'm sure everyone who reads my journal is by now aware of how very, very busy we've been and how tight our schedule has been. Today was supposed to involve three trips to the house. It's almost three p.m. and we've made NONE. Why? Because the water man had to come out and disconnect our water softener.

This wouldn't be a problem, but they don't give you an appointment time. They give you a four hour window in which the technician will, at some point arrive. Not that the work will be done by, but when he'll arrive. That window was from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. today. He's still out there, apparently disassembling the entire garage. I would have thought that disconnecting the water softener would have involved... disconnecting the water softener. Apparently, it also involved ripping out all the piping that was put in when the water softener was installed. Which must take two hours. He's finally inside, getting ready to remove the reverse osmosis system. Which means I should probably buy some bottled water, as B&D was incapable of making the appointment to install the water softener in our new place when I called to have the disconnect done.

Last time, the guy came out, he disconnected the water softener and R.O. filter, packed it in his van, brought it to the new house, and installed it. Done. Apparently, things don't get done, anymore.

And I've lost most of a day, including the entire morning period where it was not raining. I'm hoping to get a second trip up to the house before it gets dark. I'm not counting on it. Grr... I don't have time for stuff like this!

UPDATE: Apparently, he broke something. Not part of the water softener, but something between where the water comes up out of the ground and where it connects to the house. Yeah, bad. He was supposed to be back 45 minutes ago to meet the tech from Santa Cruz to get help repairing it. He's not here. We still have no water. At least we had time to get one of the runs to the house done. All bloody day to disconnect the thing!!

UPDATE, the Sequel: Apparently, he came back sometime while we were gone at the other house (the second time), and he was still waiting out front for the guy from Santa Cruz when I got back. It's 6:30, now, and we still have no water. And he's gone.
