Fandom: K Project

Rating: T

Pairing: one-sided!Saruhiko/Misaki

Notes: Written for iu_fanfiction's Writing Challenge # 47: Going Under | Prompt: Ambivalent smile

Summary: They meet again after everything is over. The Red King is gone and so should the reason for their enmity.

Saruhiko spotted Misaki sitting on a park bench alone, looking despondent. He was alone--he didn’t even have his skateboard with him. The spectacled plastered on his usual grin and approached.

“What are you doing here...Mi-sa-ki~?” He watched as Misaki turned towards him, tense with a glare, before visibly deflating upon recognizing him.

“It’s just you,” he muttered, looking away. “I’m not in the mood to deal with you, Saru.”

The dark-haired male raised an eyebrow. “Ah, but we haven’t talked to each other in ages!” He pouted and sat down beside the other. “I missed you, you know.”

“Shut the fuck up, stupid monkey.”

Ah, there was the usual spark. Not quite as strong but still there.

“Tch.” Saruhiko placed his arms across his chest and leaned against the bench’s backrest. “Still brooding about that dead king.”

Surprisingly, Misaki didn’t deign to give him an answer.

“There’s no use doing that. He’s dead,” Saruhiko drawled out. “It’s pointless to daydream about a dead man who left behind a broken clan.”

That riled up the shorter man.

“Stop fucking insulting Mikoto-san!” he demanded angrily, tugging roughly at the other’s collar. “You have no right to talk about him, fucking traitor!”

Saruhiko stared at Misaki’s furious visage impassively. “Even in death, it’s still him, isn’t it.”

His usual smile tugged at his lips--the one that made his eyes glint in demented amusement. He pried off Misaki’s fingers from his collar none too gently.

“I’ll talk about him as much as I want to, Mi-sa-ki~” He chuckled. “The dead can’t come back to haunt me anyway.”

“I’ll fucking kill you!” Misaki shouted, suddenly lunging at him with his fist.

Saruhiko easily sprung from his seat to dodge that and the next blow. Misaki’s movements were too slow. It was disappointing.

“You couldn’t do it if you tried.” He dodged another hit before lashing out and delivering a swift chop to the back of Misaki’s head, making him fall to the ground on the verge of unconsciousness. “You’ve become too weak.”

“I-I’ll show you...” Misaki attempted to get up but was prevented by the taller man’s foot on his back, keeping him down.

“You’ve always been weak and stupid, Misaki.” Saruhiko gave him a cursory glance before removing his foot and turning away to the direction of Scepter4 headquarters. He let out a laugh, one that was bordering on hysterical (Misaki wouldn’t care anyway). “You’re never going to change.”

And you’ll never think of me like you think of him.

“C-Come back here, stupid monkey! I’m not done with you yet!”

Saruhiko ignored him and continued to walk towards his destination with his smile plastered on.

Tears were pooling in his eyes and began falling behind his glasses. But he ignored them too.

Why should he care when he’d never be good enough for Misaki?

A/N: I don't know why I wrote this. Huhuhu my feels.
