So... as I was bumming around the CW website looking at clips of Supernatural stuff, i was also forced to endure several ads for the Vampire Diaries.
Vampire Diaries is a new show on CW which is a lot like Twilight + an evil brother and a lot more high school kids. I've seen some of it cuz it's on before Supernatural. It's not my thing, but that's not what this post is about.
No, this post is about how dumb it is for vampire movies and shows etc to have the cops/doctors/whoever believe that the first victim has been attacked by an animal. Vampire Diaries is guilty of this, but it is not alone. There are many instances of vampires biting girls and authorities are like, "Huh, the only thing I can think of is that a wolf got her." Or something like that. Wtf? A wolf? Left two holes on her neck and took all her blood? Uh... I think if a wolf attacked a person, she'd either be missing her guts or missing her throat. Or both. And she'd have scratches all over her body from where the animal's claws hit her and where she tried to fight it off. This does not look like a vampire bite. In fact, the only animal I can think of that would even come close to the right bite marks would be snakes. Or giant spiders. Or, you know, something with *fangs* instead of a full mouth of teeth.
But for some weird reason, vampire tv likes to pretend that nobody's ever heard of a vampire before, and that nobody's gonna see two holes in somebody's neck and think 'vampire' or at least 'psycho who thinks he's a vampire.' We're humans - we are all ready to jump up and be superstitious. TV should acknowledge that. Shows would be better if they did.
:) That is all.
