Hey babe, I experienced a similar kinda blackout in my neighbourhood about 2 years back, so I can imagine how creepy it must have been for you. I trust the streets were safe though. No mugging, looting, or any of those unpleasant stuff I hope?
Yeah, the warm glow of candlelight all around is pretty reassuring and soothing, not to mention the sudden quietness ... no TV noises, no radio, no computer games ... It's actually quite nice and peaceful if ya think about it. Still, I hope the power came back on soon for you.
Its creepy eh? I was waiting for zombies to come out lol!!
No no lootings or any unpleasantries took place. My neighborhood's pretty safe and there's nothing around really worth stealing. However if it happened downtown it would've been a different story.
It was really quite peaceful. I got home and sat at the diningroom table with my roommates and chatted with them for a bit. I almost wanted to paint a picture of what I saw. Or use charcoal and draw outlines of the houses and use a tiny bit of yellow or orange for the candles I saw in the distance from the other houses.
No no,it wasn't out for very long. It was only out for 3 hrs. Still though you realize how dependant you are on electricity to keep you occupied when you have no power. Out of habit all of us tried turning on the lights to go to another room or downstairs to the basement lol!!
Zombies? Hahaha! Babe, methinks you watcheth too much Dawn of the Deadeth! ;) Btw, do you guys get Easter Break in Canada? Interestingly, Good Friday's a holiday in S'pore. You wouldn't have imagined it huh?
Hahahaha actually I haven't even seen Dawn of the Dead :P but I guess that night my imagination went a little nuts so I was pretty much expecting anything to come out of the dark lol!
Yes we do celebrate Easter here. I didn't go to work Good Friday but everything was closed so I couldn't go shopping :( I made up for it yesterday. So did everyone else apparently because everywhere I went was packed with people! Today being Easter Sunday everything's closed again, and I have to go back to work tomorrow.
Well to be honest no I didn't Good Friday would be celebrated in Singapore but I guess I learned something new today :) was everything closed there on friday for you too ?
Nope, shops don't close on Good Friday in S'pore. The only times shops might close for a day or two here ar on New Year's Day, the first 2 days of the Chinese New Year, and on Christmas Day. Like Canadians, most S'poreans enjoy shopping and shops/malls don't close till after 9:30pm. During the run up to Christmas and Chinese New Year, malls may even stay open till midnight on weekends ... and there's a dept store in Little India that stays open 24x7! My fiancee and I have been there at 2am in the morning! LOL!
