The allergy doctor tells me I have a form of asthma called "small airway disease". There's not a lot I found on Google, but he gave me a new drug just approved this year called Alvesco. It's a steroid inhaler that only becomes active once it enters the lungs, so it's supposed to have less a chance of causing thrush and things like that. Of course it's non-formulary on my insurance, so it costs more, but luckily the manufacturer has a dicount card where you can sign up and get money off on the copay.

He did not give me a quick-acting aka emergency inhaler, though, which all the asthma sites talk about. I guess I don't need one since I don't wheeze. *shrug*

My left leg started hurting again about two to three weeks ago. I don't remember if I mentioned it or not. I assume my herniated disc is acting up again. I was going to try to tough it out, but reading about it, I'm wondering if I should go see a specialist. I'm not sure. I might try some of the back exercises I was taught years ago and see if they help. All I can say is it hurts like hell and ibuprofen doesn't help at all. :(

Oh, the asthma can be caused by allergies and by being fat, and asthma can cause cough. We'll see in three months when I have a follow up if the Alvesco has made a difference in my cough or not. I still haven't signed up for allergy shots yet. That's a 5-7 year committment.
