Also, I wanted to add this:
http://sailormoon.download-tvshows.com/ You can watch the shows online (Japanese with English subtitles), or download them apparently but I have only been watching them online.
I suddenly had the urge to start watching Sailor Moon again when I was going through some of my old drawings and sketches and found this:
Sailor Sun
Sailor Sun: Solar Eclipse
Has anyone else wondered about why they didn't have a Sailor Sun? Ever? I came up with my own theory and so I drew her myself. I'll share that in the comments because I'd like to hear what others think first!
And as I was watching, my first impression was that the animation really doesn't do the actual story justice. It portrays it in such a childish way that I think it would be hard for any adult to sit and take seriously. (The main character is a total flake, the voices drive you insane, and the evil villains all sound like they have a really bad wedgie or something.... except Black Lady. She was the coolest character in Sailor Moon altogether I think.)
But the story itself is really intuitive and I think helps women and girls alike learn to believe in their insights and their own personal feelings and inner strengths. It also encourages people to really think about celestial energies, I think. Like the author was very good at making accurate statements about the energies of each celestial body that her characters represented (Mars, Jupiter, Mercury, etc.), and portraying that in those characters.
I also think that you can kind of know a little bit about each women you meet if you ask them what their favorite character in Sailor Moon was and why, exactly because of this.
So without further adieu,
minasan, please tell me what your favorite Sailor Moon character/s is/are and why!
I personally find this kind of difficult to answer. I really like all characters, but probably like Pluto and Mars the least just because Mars is the only one that gets jealous and bratty and I really detest those characteristics, and Pluto has like no personality at all - she might as well be a robot. I think the author drew a blank for her and just made her Small Lady's protector XD
But now that I'm in a relationship with Mimu I am seeing a really strange feeling of similarity to Neptune and Uranus! Back in high school I felt really close to Neptune because I was so into music and art, and I was kind of shy and quiet but intuitive and loved nature. I'm a pisces and so is Sailor Neptune. Why Uranus reminds me of Mimu, I have no idea at all - maybe because Uranus is kind of nerdy and is obviously in a relationship with Neptune.
I also really liked Venus because she was really the first person to follow her calling, and I think she has a really good heart.
But honestly
the absolute coolest character of them all - not counting Black Lady because she is really Small Lady who is a snob - in my not-so-humble opinion is undoubtedly
Sailor Saturn!
Why? Because unlike Moon, who supposedly is the most powerful one of them all, she had the power to destroy the world all ON HER OWN, while Moon had to sum up the power of everyone to do it :P She also had a really big heart and honestly tried to fight the negative energy that was taking over her entire being. Chibi Moon failed at this :P (hense, Black Lady). She also represents an amazing energy in the solar system - CHANGE. And she just looks cool. She gets her own unique sailor suit, and she has the coolest looking wand staff thing of all of them.
A couple friends pointed out that it interestingly does describe some other qualities of myself - that I'm kind of childlike, and that I have more potential than I allow myself to believe.
However, I've never watched the final season of Sailor Moon, Sailor Moon Stars. So I don't know about all of those other characters that I've heard about or seen pictures of.
Up to season 4, Sailor S? Super S? oO?? The one that ended with Sailor Saturn - Sailor Saturn is my favorite Sailor Scout.
Moon is cool but I don't like how she is portrayed in the anime. That ruins it. Queen Serenity is really cool but yeah, you don't see her enough. In fact, you don't get enough of the whole original Moon kingdom anyway.
