It's been a good week!
Sunrise photo from 彼 along the coast of Africa as their ship makes its way from Ghana to South Africa. It seems pretty confirmed that they will sail to Malaysia or Indonesia after stopping once at an unconfirmed port in South Africa, but the route isn't clear yet. Neither routes (crossing the ocean or sticking to the coast and passing by Somalia) sounds good. I just want him home safely.
Yuki
First of all, we got a new puppy! Welcoming Yuki, a 2.5 months old, apricot colored Toy Poodle to our family! My mom met her on Friday and fell in love with her, so today, she drove me and Ros down to see it and after doing some quick checks, we decided that she was perfect for our family. She's a really shy, lovely little girl. We started brain storming names for her on the way home. Some of the ideas were Apricot (2 syllable works better as names for dogs), CoCo (too common), Cofffee (she isn't coffee color), Ichigo (again, 3 syallable), Rukia (a mouthful for my parents). But with Rukia, we found that she was quite responsive to "ki", so from there we worked around a few names and decided on Yuki, which is 幸 (happiness) in Japanese. Our new bundle of joy.
She's a compete doll and loves my following my mom all over the house. At first we were abit worried about her back legs when checking her before purchase because she kept slipping down, but the seller assured us that it was because her paws were still smooth and she had too much fur on the paws. So after we settled her down, Ros and I headed out to the nearby pet shop to get puppy supplies for her since we had given away most of the pup supplies for Bobby. Ros gave it its first simple groom, trimming her tiny but too long nails and clipping the fur at her paws and eyes (First photo is post-trim, but 2nd photo is pre-trim). We also introduced her to Bobby, her late older brother in the photo.
My laptop is fixed!
Happy news number 2, my laptop screen is fixed and it was covered under the warranty. Aftershock Service center is located in an industrial park about 25min walk away from my office so I brought my laptop to work on Monday and went to the service center after work. They were very fast, I just stepped in, talk to the receptionist about the problem, sat down in the waiting area with about 3-4 other customers for a few minutes, and a technician showed up to verify the problem. I showed him the screen and he took the laptop into the back room to work on while I waited in the waiting area. I didn't even have to show him my purchase receipts or anything. They just took the laptop to the back to check the serial code sticker pasted on the laptop and replaced my entire screen. So now it is working beautifully and I'm no longer staring at a pink screen. High recommendations for Aftershock~ I'm hoping to use this laptop for at least another 1 -2 years
My PWS album is here!
The album for our pre-wedding shoot (PWS) is here! I didn't expect it till July so I was really surprised to get a call from the deliveryman last night arranging for delivery today. It is absolutely lovely and super heavy since the frame is wood and crystal...
A little bit on PWS because I know it is not the norm in western culture, but it is pretty much the norm in Singapore and the rest of Asia. Couples will take photos in gowns and suits prior to the wedding and compile into an album. The album will be on display for guests to view on the wedding day. There is also no custom here that the groom is not allowed to see the wedding gown. I was actually quite surprised when I first learnt the western culture of grooms not seeing the wedding gown until the wedding day. It's interesting and nice pleasant surprise.. and I know some brides who choose to do that in Singapore as well to surprise their grooms, but I personallystill prefer 彼 and I to choose our gowns and suits together~ I'm looking forward to doing our wedding day gowns and suits selection when 彼 gets back from his current trip.
Our bridal packge with CangAi bridal salo included photocards with a QR code that will bring us to a website they designed with some of our photos uploaded.
It also includes a Signature book for our guests to sign in. Peony Jade, our banquet location will also be providing another signature book in fact. There's a also a very pretty USB containing the soft copy of our PWS photos.
I should start ordering all the rest of the things we need for our wedding like red double happiness stickers but i'm still too busy procrastinating since it feels kinda far away...
BBQ!

Colleague T organized a BBQ at East Coast Park yesterday~ It was raining almost all day but it subsided around 5+. He and a few other organizers went earlier to buy food/utensils and wait for more food that they ordered earlier. The rest of us arrived around 6-7pm. I haven't been to ECP in a very long time and it is really a nice place. Breezey after the rain and without too much sun. The waves were comforting and after the sun set, the lights from the ships dotting the shoreline was really pretty and reminded me of 彼 and made me missed him more.
It was nice catching up with everyone who came. It wasn't a full company BBQ since we had over 100 employees. It was mostly T and the main organizers' closer friends and teammates. I was working with T on the same project in my first 2 years with the company in Singapore, so I'm pretty close to most of the people who turned up. Except for those who joined the company during the 2 years I was training in Japan. We had 2 pits, and inevitably there was a senior-junior split. The seniors busied themselves bbqing at one pit while the juniors were busy drinking and fooling around at the other pit. We senior pit finished earlier and left first too while the juniors played around somemore~ But over all it was a great gathering.
Anime Songs
I've been listening to a bunch of Japanese anime songs that are good for work (playlists found on youtube) at work and fell in love with these few songs XD. I haven't watched any of the animes that they are from but it is super tempting.. so maybe I will watch it once I'm doing marathoning 『彼岸島』 manga which I recently started.
