Merry Xmas!

Merry Xmas!

Merry Xmas!
It didn't feel too Xmasy for me because Xmas isn't a public holiday in Japan and we're super busy for the end of year. I've been OTing everyday except for Friday, and that was only because I had to catch my night bus to Inawashiro Ski Resort. Spent Xmas eve eve on the slopes~ and Xmas eve at home just slacking away from muscle ache and packing for my trip back to Singapore this weeknd.

Simple Xmas eve dinner and a cheesecake for celebration.

Pasta for lunch. Honey Baked Chicken and cream stew for dinner.

And a cheese cake for xmas celebration~

Going home!
I received an email from our company's HR earlier this week to ask when I was to go home. Discussed with my director and we're confirmed that I will be going home on 14th February! So HR will be buying my air tickets and I am set to go~ We also made arrangement for the shipping of my stuff back to Singapore. Our company will pay for 4m3 of shipping and about 60kg? I think of air freight. So we've arranged for the shipping company to come and take a look at my stuff to come with an estimation of the costs and boxes required (they usually will help pack too), and the actual collection around 7th or 8th February - a few days before I head home~

Miss my Little boy

I miss my little boy. Hope he is doing well over the rainbow bridge, enjoying Xmas treats. Xmas will always be special because he came to us on Xmas, for a short staycation while his previous owners went for holiday. We fell in love with him and when his owners decided to give him away because they had no time to take care of him, we adopted him. That was 2003 Xmas, his first Xmas, our first Xmas with him. Have a Merry Xmas my little boy.

冬至!

冬至吃汤圆!~Thankful I bought this black sesame tang yuan from Singapore XD

YW Visiting!
Met up with YW last weekend on her 3 weeks tour around Japan~ That girl had a really awesome trip traversing Kansai, Niigata, Nagano before ending in Tokyo. We met up for a day trip to Jogashima on Saturday, and walked around Tsukiji Fish Market and Akiba on Sunday ;3

Jogashima

Long stretch of island located surprisingly and conveniently close to Yokohama!~  We did its coast line hike. The place is really beautiful!

First stop Kainan shrine

Misaski fisherina wharf urari. Direct sales center. Aka fish market!

Local fresh produce for sale

Wharf view of jogashima.

Tuna & seafood lunch at local eatery Hamaryu. Apparently run by mothers and wives of local fishermen. Good and cheap!

We wanted to take a boat from the wharf across the bay to jogashima but the wind was strong and sea was choppy so boats were running. Took the bus instead (about 10min) to the furthest end of the island.

The island is famous for its beautiful rock forms

A shrine near the bus alight point.

View from the shrine

Blue skies

Jogashima lighthouse. There are 2 lighthouses on the island. One at each end of the island.

View from the lighthouse

We descended from the lighthouse and started out coastline hike. There is no clear path. It was basically just hiking over the rockforms~

There is an alternative hiking route along the ridge of the hill that spans across the island.

馬の背洞門 umanose-domon sea cave visible.

After that we climbed up to the ridge of the hill and found the Narcissus road hiking path. Sweet smell of narcissus.

Habitat of Japanese cormorant (the black dots on the cliff <<

Jogashima park. Full of narcissus

Winter sakura

Jogashima park. The place used to be an army base.

View from the observatory. On a clear day we should be able to see 伊豆大島 and mount fuji even.

Awasaki lighthouse

To end off the hike, we walked across Jogashima bridge.

View from the bridge. And that concludes our jogashima trip! We caught a bus at the end of the bridge back to the train station.

Harajuku gyoza! We wanted to go peking yakiniku but it was full (the place renovated and looks totally different!) So went to musashi-kosugi grandtree for gyoza instead. There s always a long queue at the main shop in harajuku but here it was ok. Had their dumplong hotpot, boiled gyoza, pan fried gyoza, fried gyoza and tofu avocado tomato salad. Fried gyoza not that great but the rest was good!

Tsukiji Fish Market
Sunday, I headed out to Tsukiji Fish Market to meet YW for breakfast. It was just eat and walk and eat and walk XD

I guess this would be my last time here before I go home and before it shifts.

[Tsukiji Fish Market Morning Walk]Tsukiji Fish Market morning walk

Full of people on a Sunday morning~

Favorite grilled scallop and unagi from this particular shop.

Fresh oysters!

Egg for 100yen~ Long queue but fast moving. Totally worth it.

Lobster! Super good

Scallop place of seafood. There is tuna, urchin, scallop. So good. For 1000yen. Super awesome

Fresh osyters! Couldn't resist.

Almonds! Bought a pack to bring home to Singapore~

Wako-chan in her box~

Strawberry Daifuku!

Akihabara!~

We went to Akiba after our non-stop eating in Tsukiji to help my sis find a male SD doll. Likely my last trip to Akiba before I go back to Singapore too.

We tried Pablo's xmas special cinnamon apple cheese tart.

Your name cookies. :x so good with merchandising.

Dropped by Volks. I love seeing their dolls~

Male dolls. mayu ended up not wanting any of them lol.
And the next photo is actually a bunch of food-shaped cakes!!

猪苗代 Ski!
2nd Snowboard trip of the season!

It's my first time taking night bus to snowboard... and I just have to say that night buses are not for people my age.. Totally zombied the next money. I much rather pay good money for a more comfortable means of transport. Anyway,  we took a shuttle bus from Yokohama to Shinjuku. Our bus departed Shinjuku at 10.45pm. Stopped twice along the way and reached Inawakashiro at 4.30am. But even the visitor center wasn't open at that point so lights stayed off till 6am when the visitor center opened and we alighted.

Inawashiro Ski resort at sunrise around 7am. It was so beautiful because there was no one out there. It is just beautiful fresh snow. We were the first batch to arrive for the season's opening day.

We finished rental by around 8+ and quickly hoped onto the lifts. The snow was wet, but it was still awesome! Only thing was that it was quite foggy from fog and snow.

Around 10am, the fog cleared enough for a short window for us to see the town and Inawashiro Lake! (Far right in the photo)

At the top of the mountain, it is impossible to see the town because of the fog...

Break for lunch. Area's speciality "sauce cutlet rice bowl". Bought the mini version so wont puke it up on the slopes. Quite good!

food, 彼氏, japan, friends, work, bobby, singapore, snowboarding
