When something brings Sam back from Hell, God restores Gabriel to be his guardian and protector. Bound to Sam through spells and his own feelings, Gabriel is trapped until Sam dies or returns his love. Without a soul, the latter is impossible, so Gabriel searches for a way to find it and restore it. Aided by Castiel and later Dean, the search grows more desperate when Gabriel does something no angel has ever done in a vessel. Her name is Zoe and she has his wings, Sam's nose and hair, Dean's lips, and Castiel's eyes. She's going to need both her fathers whole and strong to survive as she's unique and the first of her kind and the villains on all sides are going to want her.
