CHAPTER 2
It was a bright Tuesday morning in Las Vegas and Jin woke up with the sun poking down on his face, he blinked a few times until he gets used to the sunlight inside the room. He tried to stand up but fall back again on the bed as every slightness movement makes his head hurts. He felt someone moving on the bed so he moved closer to see a girl under the duvet. “Hey!” he tapped her shoulders. “Go home now.” he ordered her as he tried to stand up for the second time, he managed to walk up to the bathroom. He looked at the girl again to see if she’s awake but she’s still lying there. “I’ll take a shower and I want you out after I finish here.” he said coldly. She let out a growl and gets out of the bed, she grabbed her clothes that’s scattered all over the room. Jin watched her every movement, he wants to make sure she’s out before he begin his shower.
The girl gets dressed and grabbed her shoes and bag, she moved over to Jin who’s standing by the bathroom door. She reached out her hand as if asking him for the some kind of money, Jin smirked, he moved over to the side table to get his wallet, he pulled out two hundred dollars and gave it to her. “Get out now.” he said coldly, she looked at him one last time with a mad expression and slammed the door.
Thirty minutes later, Jin is on his way to the hotel restaurant to join his friends for breakfast, Pi and Ryo are the only ones present. he approached them saw that they are already halfway done with their meal. “Wait for me and eat slower.” he instructed everyone as he browses the menu.
“You should eat faster so that you can catch up with us.” Pi said as he took a sip of coffee.
Jin ignored him, he called the waiter and ordered. “Where’s Shirota?” he asked.
“Breakfast in bed.” Ryo replied, a naughty grin appeared on his face.
“Pervert!” Jin blurted out.
“What? I’m just saying that he’s having his breakfast in bed...” Ryo said right away. “A very sexy breakfast that is.” he added cheekily.
“Uwa! Don’t tell me you have a hidden desire on Misako?” Pi asked.
“She’s a gravure idol, she poses on magazines with only her underwear and sells her body on those erotic videos. I bet you guys drool too when you watch her.” Ryo accused them.
“I prefer a classier one...” Jin blatantly admitted.
“Ouch! Are you saying that Shirota’s girlfriend is cheap? That will hurt his pride, Akanishi.” Pi said.
“I’m not saying that!” Jin replied, “What I’m saying is that I like a classy girl, a girl who don’t act dumb on purpose because she thinks it’s cute, that’s pathetic, you know? I like someone independent, mature and natural.” he ended.
He looked at his friends who’s obviously not listening to him and instead, looking at someone behind him, he looked back to see what caught their attention and saw Takako entering the restaurant, he returned to face his friends who is looking at him now.
“Ignore her.” he told them, a waiter approached him and placed his order in front of him.
“You know she’s here?” Ryo asked, confused at how Jin seemed to be so cold about her.
“I accidentally saw her on the lobby yesterday.” he answered, taking a bite of his bacon.
“And you didn’t tell us?” Pi asked in disbelief.
“She obviously doesn’t want to let her presence known so why would I tell?” Jin answered.
“You talked to her?” Ryo asked again.
“I helped her talk to the lady at the front desk because her English skills are quite bad.” he said, getting a bit irritated. Pi is about to asked something but Jin speaks, “I don’t really want to talk about it so don’t ask anything anymore. Please?” he said, pointing his fork on the two guys, they just closed their mouth and continued eating.
Jin noticed that Pi smiled and bowed and he knew for sure that it’s her who he’s smiling and bowing at. “I told you to ignore her.” Jin hissed at Pi.
“What can I do? I saw her looking in this direction so I bowed, out of respect.” Pi hissed back.
Jin rolled his eyes and stayed silent, eating his breakfast, the other two noticed that he’s pissed off so they stayed silent to and waited for him to finish eating.
“Let’s go.” Jin said as he finished his orange juice, he got up and walk toward exit, they passed by Takako’s table but Jin didn’t pay attention to her and just continue walking.
Takako was surprised by the sudden coldness from Jin, but she understands that he’s probably pissed off when she turned down his offer yesterday. ‘Don’t let him bother you.’ she told herself as she noticed that she got sad by his cold treatment.

“You’re such a snob!” Pi yelled at Jin. “You totally ignored her.”
Jin is seated on the oversized chair by the window playing with the television remote control. “I don’t think that there’s a need to approach her.” he answered nonchalantly.
“What really happened, Akanishi?” Ryo asked, seeing that Jin is in a better mood now.
Jin sighed, thinking twice whether he’ll tell them that she turned him down for a dinner. “She turned me down...again.” he answered, Pi and Ryo looked at each other as if they are talking with their eyes.
“That explains it...” Pi sat on the edge of the bed.
“I’m so angry at myself for actually believing that I still have a chance.” Jin said, his voice is mad. “I tried to ask her out yesterday but she made this lame excuse!” he yelled.
“So now you’re mad at her? Again?” Ryo asked, Jin got mad at her after they broke up, he’s full of anger and hatred for her as he tried to forget her by dating and sleeping around with countless girls he met at parties but eventually, he forgets everything about her and stopped being so bitter to her in front of his friends so they assumed that his anger is gone and that he’s over her already.
“Mad? Why would I waste my precious vacation in this place by getting affected by her presence? My plan is to ignore and pretend that she doesn’t exist.” he stated with pride.

And Jin’s plan is totally working the way he wanted it, he would ignore her at instances where they met at the hotel. Luckily for Jin, Takako is just staying at the hotel for the last four days, laying on her bed looking at that ring, flicking through the TV channels that she can’t understand because it’s in English, looking at the Las Vegas nightlight when it gets dark and staying by the balcony for hours and only going out of her room for meals. She may look pathetic but that’s what she planned to do. She needs some quiet time, by herself and no one else.
It’s a Thursday night and her fourth night in the city, Takako is sitting at a small chair by the balcony with a tea in her hand, she’s enjoying the view here and finds it relaxing that’s why she would spend hours and hours sitting there until she gets sleepy. A sound from her cell phone disturbed the solemn ambience of the room. She gets up to answer it. Her band mate, Hiroko’s name is blinking on the screen. She felt that her call is something work-related so she’s thinking of whether to answer or not but she decided to answer anyways. “Hiro-chan. Why did you call?” she said as she went back to the balcony.
“Taka-chan, I’m sorry that I called. I know that you wouldn’t want to be disturbed...” she said, her voice is anxious.
“It’s fine, I think it’s something important. What is it? Are there problems with the comeback?”
“No, everything’s fine with our comeback...” Hiroko’s voice gets smaller.
“What is it then?” she asked, getting curious.
“I’m not in the position to mingle with your private life...but I think you should know...”
“What is it? Tell me!” Takako’s voice gets louder, she feels something is wrong back home.
“You’re boyfriend... I saw him entering a hotel a few minutes ago... with a girl, they look...close...” Hiroko said slowly.
“Maybe she’s just a friend...” she tried to believe in her words.
“They checked-in, Taka-chan! It’s just the two of them. He’s got his hands around her shoulders and-”
“STOP!” Takako yelled. “I’ll call you later, okay.” she hang-up the phone before Hiroko can speak again.
She stood up in the balcony, unmoved, her whole body are trembling because of what Hiroko told her, her mind is debating whether or not she’ll give him a call. After a few minutes, she finally dialled his number. It rings three times before it’s picked-up.
“Moshi-moshi?” A girl answered, Takako’s heart jumped out. “Moshi-moshi?” she repeated again as Takako is speechless. “Akihiro-kun is-” “Takako-chan!” The girl’s voice is cut out and she heard her boyfriend’s voice.
“That girl...she’s just someone from work.” He defended himself right away.
“Don’t treat me like a fool, Akihiro-kun. It’s over.” she screamed.
“Takako-chan! It’s not what-”
“I don’t need explanations. Someone saw you, don’t deny it.” she interrupted him. “It’s over between us. The ring is yours.” she ended and slammed her phone on the bed.

The Tao Nightclub is rocking as the party get hotter and hotter, Yuu and Misako are lost in their own worlds as the gets intimate with each other in the dancefloor and Ryo is having a good time mingling with girls everywhere. “I wonder how he talks to them.” Jin told Pi ask they looked at Ryo, they are seated at the bar with a Hennessy in their hand.
“They say that there’s no language barrier when it comes to attraction.” Pi chuckled and Jin laughed. “What are you doing here with me? Aren’t you itching to dance with those girls?” Pi asked.
“Nah. I’m bored, I like my liquor better this time.” he said as he took a sip.
Three hours later, the guys are all drunk and wild, all they did the whole night is drinking.

They are singing a Lady Gaga song while swaying around the hotel lobby, they managed to be back safe in the hotel, thanks to a sober Misako.
“Oh-oh-oh-oh-oooh! Oh-oh-oooh-oh-oh! Caught in a bad romance!” Jin sang as he sway around, people are looking at them. “Oh, a bar.” he pointed to the hotel bar lounge as he looked at his friends.
“Let’s drink some more!” Ryo puts his arms around Jin and Pi and walks towards the entrance.
“No, no, no, no!’ Misako tried to stop the drunken guys from entering but Jin just waved his hand dismissively at her and continued walking.
Misako looked at Yuu who’s left outside with her, “Baby, sleep well in our room, I’ll just join my friends. I’ll be back soon.” he said as he handed her the key, he kissed her softly on the lips and joined them inside.
“Arrrghh! I won’t let you in our room tonight, sleep with them!” she yelled as she stomp her feet.
“Four vodka’s please.” Jin ordered as he sits on the bar, the three took their seat beside him. A girl at the other side caught his attention, he narrowed his eyes to see if he’s seeing correctly. He stood up and went up to her.
“Akanishi, you going where?” Pi asked him.
“Just drink there...” he said, struggling to walk straight to the other side of the bar.
“Imahitotsu.” she said to the bartender raising her index finger, the bartender shakes his head and gave her another glass.
“She said to give her one more.” Jin said, sitting beside her, she looked at him rubbing her eyes to see him clearly.
“She’s been saying that since she seated there three hours ago. I kinda figured what it means...” he said, “Are you here to take her with you? She’s so drunk...”
“I think, I don’t know if she’ll go with me, though.” Jin replied.
“Oi, Akanishi!” she shouted in his ears.
“Not so loud, Uehara!” he said touching his ears.
“Hmp! What the hell are you doing here?!” she asked, slapping his arms.
“No slapping!” he yelled, “You’re drunk...”
“You are too!” she said as she leaned forward the bar to reach for a lemon slice, “Want one?” she asked.
“That’s stealing from the bartender.” Jin replied, grinning how she’s so drunk.
“It’s totally cool, I’ve been picking up one since I sat here, it’s fine with him...” she took her tequila in one shot and bit on her lemon slice.
“Hey!” she tried calling the bartender in English. “Imahitotsu!”
“You should try saying one more.” Jin suggested.
“HUH?” she asked, Jin finds this scene amusing.
“Say one...”
“Hww...wan” She said in a thick Japanese accent, Jin laughs at her.
“More.”
“Mmm...mmoore.”
“One more.”
“Hwaan mmooore.” she said, Jin bites his lower lip before he can start to laugh out loud.
They continued their drunken talk until they finished a bottle of tequila, Jin totally forgot his plan of ignoring and pretending that she doesn’t exist.
