Ok this one here is rated for language, no smexing what-so-ever happens in this little ficlet. This was inspired a couple nights ago as I was falling asleep. Our little black kitten loves to attack our feet when they stick outside the blanket, he's a complete brat. So for whatever reason, while my feet were under attack, I thought "Oh, wouldn't it be cute if Naruto and Sasuke were together and Naruto had a black little kitty that did the same thing to Sasuke?"
Thus, this fic was born. Not nearly as cute as it was supposed to be, but I never claimed to write cute stuff well. In fact, this is my first non-angsty fic EVER. So yeah, here goes.
Title: Domino
Pairing: Sasu/Naru
Genre: AU. Bits of shonen-ai, light kissing.
Words: 1,223
Rating: PG-13 - for languange.
Disclaimer: Naruto doesn't belong to me, I just write about it.
Summary: Naruto was a fool to think Sasuke could ever warm up to such a sweet little kitten. Still, he loves the bastard.
A bite, then a gentle nibble.
Groan.
Another bite, this time a rougher. Sasuke could feel claws digging into his arm.
A much louder groan this time, coupled with the loud rustling of blankets.
Then...
“Dobe, get this thing away from me!”
Naruto rolled his eyes, yawning as he turned over in bed to fix his raven-haired companion with a stern glare.
“He isn’t a thing, Sasuke. He’s a kitten, and he has a name.”
Sasuke groaned, picking up the black kitten by the nape of his neck and placing him none too gently on Naruto’s bare torso.
“Oh right, how could I forget?” The Uchiha scoffed. “It's name is Domino.”
Naruto did nothing to hide his look of disgust. “You’re such a bastard, Sasuke.”
“Hn.”
Naruto frowned, pulling the small, struggling kitten closer to him in order place a small kiss on the tip of his nose. The blonde smiled gently as a small paw was raised and placed over his lips.
It had been three weeks since the kitten that Naruto had later named Domino showed up on a rainy day, meowing in the wet parking lot of the apartment building Naruto and Sasuke lived in. For the blonde it was love at first sight. For his lover of three years it was a completely different story.
“Pleeeeeease, Sasuke?”
“No.”
“....Please??”
“No, dammit. And get up, you look pathetic.”
“But look at him!” Naruto brought the tiny shivering kitten closer to Sasuke’s face, who glared at the innocent little creature with a murderous expression. “He’s helpless, and adorable. Look at that little white dash on his tummy! Can you see it? Look-“
“Get that little black bastard out of my face, Naruto. I won’t have a pet ruining this place.”
Sasuke’s tone was harsh and left no room for argument. Naruto began to bounce up and down frantically, realizing he was quickly losing the battle.
“I’ll take care of him, I promise. You won’t even have to worry; I’ll clean up after him and give him baths, and everything! C’mon, please??”
“Dobe, you can barely take care of yourself.”
“Hey!”
“I’m serious, Naruto. The thing goes. Now.”
All was quiet for a moment, the only sounds that could be heard was the light rainfall from outside, along with the occasional meow from the kitten that was bundled up in a fluffy green towel.
“Fine.”
Sasuke inwardly sighed in relief.
“Good. Now just put him outside-“
“No way! I’m taking him to Neji.”
A beat.
“As in Hyuuga? As in the persistent manager from your job, Hyuuga?” Sasuke nearly growled, his fists clenching in barely restrained fury.
“Yup, just the other day he said I could count on him for anything. So I’ll be taking little Domino-“
“Domino?”
“-To Neji’s house. There I’ll be able to visit him as much as I want!” Naruto finished, not even acknowledging the fact that he was interrupted. He also failed to notice the killer aura that was coming from Sasuke.
“Neji is always really welcoming, so I’m sure he won’t mind if I stop in once a day, maybe even twice-“
“FINE!” Sasuke roared. “The thing can stay, but you’d better take care of it!”
Naruto beamed, jumping in the air and smothering Sasuke with a multitude of kisses all over his face and along his neck.
“Thank you Sasuke! Thank you, thank you, thank you!”
“Damnit, get off, moron! I need to breathe too!”
“Hmph!” Naruto pouted, then stood on his toes to give Sasuke a gentle peck on the cheek.
"....Love you, Bastard."
"Same here, Dobe."
Since that time, Sasuke had still made no progress whatsoever in bonding with the sweet, often playful kitten. Naruto would watch as Domino attacked Sasuke’s exposed feet each and every morning before leaving for work, only to see the Uchiha groan and pull his feet back under the covers.
It wasn’t as if he was expecting Sasuke to warm up to Domino any time soon, but he just wished that the raven were a little less hostile towards the poor kitten’s many attempts.
Naruto quickly raced around time room, frantically searching for his apron as Sasuke watched lazily from his place on the large bed.
“Hey Naruto, what time do you get off work today?”
Naruto was slightly taken aback by the sudden question. “Umm, 3:30 I think.”
“Alright.”
“And you?”
“Professor Hatake is bringing in a special guest speaker, and since I’m his T.A. I have to stay late. I’ll get back at around 6.”
“Hmm.”
Strapping on his boot, Naruto bent over to give Sasuke a light kiss before rushing out the door to his part-time job at a café.
It wasn’t until he was in the parking lot of their apartments that he realized he had forgotten his keys in his rush to leave. It was a normal occurrence that he never seemed to learn from. Sighing deeply, Naruto crossed his arms as he ran back, cursing the bitter December wind that stung his skin and watered his eyes.
Since he and Sasuke lived in an apartment on the first floor, Naruto had known he could always just open the window to their room from the outside. He had never done so before, since Sasuke said something about sneaking through the window being “stupid ninja shit” or whatever. Glancing at his watch, Naruto realized with an impatient huff that he was already late and couldn’t waste the time it would take to walk through the building to their apartment door.
His mind made up, Naruto sprinted to the other side of the building, spotting their window immediately. It wasn’t difficult since theirs was the only one with a Han Solo action figure in the window sill.
Naruto had fought for that damn thing to be put there. If Sasuke got his dark blue walls and black bedspread, then Naruto could damn well keep Han with him.
As Naruto approached the closed window the only sound that could be heard in the mostly empty parking lot was the crunch of his heavy black boots on the rough uneven gravel. Just as he was about to remove his gloves in order to open the window, something caught his eye. First he questioned his sanity, and then, once he knew he was seeing was actually happening, he simply looked on in awe.
Sasuke was still curled up in bed; his head under the blanket, the only light in the room was coming from the window Naruto was currently standing in. It was the action on the foot of the bed that left Naruto dumbstruck.
There, in plain view, was the unmistakable sight of Domino jumping around and nibbling Sasuke’s wiggling - yes, wiggling - toes.
Naruto could do nothing but stare dumbly at the shocking yet endearing sight of the cold, ever stoic Uchiha Sasuke actually letting the kitten play with his toes freely. It was something he thought he would never see, and was positive he wasn’t meant to see. For whatever reason, it was as if the bastard wanted to seem even more bastardly than he already was.
“Damn Uchiha.” Naruto whispered under his breath with a small smile, shaking his head and taking a step back from the window. He needed his keys, but he would be damned if he ruined that rare moment.
With a chuckle and a deep breath, Naruto decided that he could stand to be late this one time.
A/N: Wow. It's....bad, lol. It needs lots of work before I do something like put it up on FF.net or Narutofic.org. I'll probably come up with a second version of a fic based on this idea.
