Ok, I know NOTHING about security/anti-virus stuff. I know that DH uses the free version of Avast! and really likes it:

I really know nothing about such things, but I have McAfee Internet Security Suite, as it came with a free two year subscription on the computer I bought a year and a half ago.

McAfee is one of the better-rated programs, and it does apparently support Eudora, so that's a good suggestion. If I can't find a way to make PC-Cillin work, I'll get it.

It works well for me, I do run other free spyware catcher things (Lavasoft Ad-Aware and another I never remember the name of) that rarely catch anything much, so McAfee must be doing its job.

We use a network version at work, and it seems to perform well (though like any such software, it does have its small quirks).

Thanks for the comments!

I use AVG's free edition. I think the URL is http://www.grisoft.com/free --I'm not sure it'll meet all your requirements, but it works pretty well for me.
