Excellent company always makes roadtrips that much more exciting, and it'd be rather difficult for him to find better company in Collins' unbiased opinion.

"I've never actually been to the falls," he comments when they're about an hour or so away.

"Pretty standard summer day trip, for my parents. They're not all that far from Buffalo. Not bad, all things considered."

"Yeah. Just one of those things. Want to see the Falls, want to go to the Grand Canyon. Might sound odd, but it's good to know how small you are sometimes."

Angel grins. "You mean you're not twenty feet tall and bulletpoof? Could've fooled me. Seriously, though, I think I get it. Haven't been any farther west than Cleveland, but from what I've heard there's some neat stuff out there."

"I'm not bulletproof but I can rewire computers to self-destruct. That work for you?"

"Bit of a limited market at the moment, I think. But that works, sure."

"I don't intend to make a living from that," he says dryly. "Eventually I'd run out of computers to blow up and that wouldn't be any fun. Anyway--I haven't been any further west than Chicago but I hear there are really beautiful places all over. I know Canada's gorgeous."

"Well, even if it weren't, I'd be going in the best company I can think of. Hard to lose with a setup like that."
Also, it's not campus. This is important.

They've been together for a couple of weeks, and Angel still manages to make him blush. "Good point. Very good point."

Well, he still cute when he blushes. This pattern is likely to hold for as long as it has time to.
"And I can definitely say if anyone else had suggested the Falls, I probably would've said no."

"Next trip, you pick the destination." He's nothing if not fair.

"Works for me."
He'd argue for next trip that won't involve his family in some capacity, since the end of the semester's the next likely chance they'll have, but he'd probably want to go to Cleveland anyway. It's just the difference between avoiding his grandmother and trying to talk to her.

It'd probably help to have an outside party mediating at that point. And it's not likely that Angel's grandmother would mistake him for a nice girl that Angel will breed with.

...Okay, better now. It probably would help to get a third party in on that particular discussion, yes. Especially since Angel's willing to admit they get nowhere in a hurry without one.

"Think we're getting close," Collins says dryly after they pass half a dozen signs advertising the falls. "Kudos to subtle marketing."
