Tiwa remembers him, he's a friend of Carl's and grins as she comes up, slightly showing off her new tattoo over her scars,

"Its always so shiny."

"I'm not sure I'd describe exploding stars as 'shiny'," Jack says with a wry smile. "How are you, Tiwa?"

"Course it is, awful good. How about you?"

"Not bad," he says, though the dark circles under his eyes might give a hint they're not great, either.

He looks at the tattoo closely. "I don't think you had that the last time I saw you."

"Depends on time."

She turns it to show it off to him, fantails fly and twist over the scar,

"My Uncle Manu's really good at doing them, even got James to hold my hand."

He notices that the tattoo is over scar tissue, but decides not to mention it. "Why'd you pick that design?"

The scar is a strange one, it resembles the flat of a knife but its more of a burn and a thin line is still visible through it,

"Didn't quite, he just drew it to fit me."

[action_antihero]

"Even better to have an original design, then. No one else will have one like it."

"Well not really anyone in the world quite like me. Now tell me all your news."

[action_antihero]

"Not much to tell," Jack says, taking a sip of his drink. "It's only been a couple days since I was in."

Remembering what Carl had told him, as well as that her tattoo doesn't look recent, he adds, "I get the feeling it's been longer than a couple days in here."

"Time can get weird on you, but its good that's its not too long for you then."

[action_antihero]

"I'm not sure I like it being so long in here, though. There's a lot I could miss with the people I know here."

[pi_wakawaka]

"Yeah, but you can't control that. Who are you worrying about? Last I saw him, Carl was in one piece and doing pretty well."

[action_antihero]

"He was?" Jack asks, a note of eagerness in his voice. He'd hope that time would pass the same for him and Carl--and if course it would, outside, for the Carl in Africa. That doesn't mean that the bar might not pull him in from a later time, and Sangala isn't the most stable of places. "Did he say what he was doing?"

"Last I saw him, he had some paint on him. Also was thinking about getting a tattoo."

Jack nods. "I used to tease him about getting one, but he didn't, as far as I know. Better not to have any identifying marks in our former line of business."
