Waaaay too late for that, Charlie. Kim is, for a lot of reasons, not exactly used to being noticed by very attractive young men, and certainly not to being chatted to by them out of the blue.
(One major reason is that she's English, and there are certain things which are not generally done. This is one of them.)
"Yes," she says primly, which manages to suffice as an answer to all these things, and therefore gives her a chance to figure out what the hell is going on. Or at least to try to.
Charles is a New Yorker. Chatting out of the blue isn't precisely common there either, but it's more accepted in his line of work. "Forgive me if I'm making you uncomfortable," he says. "I don't mean to, but it's natural for me to want to see people happy."
Or at the very least, not unhappy. He knows very well that some people just don't go around looking outwardly glad often. If ever. "My name is Charles. Hopefully that will make you think of me less as a strange man in a bar."
No, no, he's definitely still a strange man in a bar. But she's aware that she's at best bordering on being rude, so she offers him a somewhat diffident smile. "I'm Kim."
Oh good, she's his practice. Someone really does know how to make a girl feel flattered.
Not that she's going to say that. Be nice, be nice, make them like you, make them forget you. It's a survival mantra that's been well-honed over the years, and it ... usually works. Usually.
(Of course, when it doesn't, either she has to run like hell - her ability to run on heels is unparalleled - or she gets beaten up. She's got better at not having that happen, though.)
"Yes," he answers lightly. "I'm a licensed companion." And yes, it does mean what it sounds like, but he just leaves it to her to suss that bit out.
"And periodically I do like to talk to people for no other reason than that they catch my attention. Presuming you don't mind, that is." And if she does, he can just as easily be gone.
"Hmm?" Blink. Kim is both slightly confused and somewhat wary.
"Oh, no, it's - fine."
It's actually rather good, not that she's tasted much of it.

It's very easy to strike up a conversation for him, but he does hope it's not unsettling for Kim.

Kim is ... somewhat nonplussed by this. Why state the obvious? More to the point, how do you respond to the obvious?
"I'm ... not exactly used to starting a conversation out of the blue," she says at last.

Her head tilts a little. "Your job?"
