Charles Xavier - XMFC continuity - that bar

Jul 18, 2011 15:58

Finding the bar at the end of the universe instead of his study is more often than not something that he's glad for, because it means that he has been pulled from the bonds of conventional time and plopped squarely someplace where he can do whatever he'd like for however long he'd like without anyone back home paying the consequences even a little ( Read more... )

The door swings open violently on its hinges and Andromeda Black quite literally throws herself through it before slamming it shut, panting.

Her eyes are wild, and when she realizes that this is not in fact the corridors of the Black Manor she presses herself back against the door.

And the response from the man in the chair is a raised eyebrow before he rolled over to her.

"Are you all right, my dear?"

"Stay back!"

Andromeda is still a Black; she isn't going to take help easily. "What is the meaning of this!"

He looks up at her and looks around.

"Is this your first time here, my dear? I'm happy to explain. But please... calm your mind."

(OOC: Yay! Are you okay with a little bit of look a like confusion.)

It has been two weeks since Jane parted from Tom at the roadside inn and she has been endeavoring to write to keep her thoughts from straying.

When Charles walks by her table, she stares before noticing his clothing is wrong. Though Milliways maybe charming for time to write, she is not yet ready to meet Tom again since she is rather afraid of what she might say.

[just fine!]

Charles didn't so much walk as roll, as he was currently confined to his chair, but her discomfort did call his attention. He turned to look at her.

"Is everything all right, miss?"

(OOC: And this is what I get for being hot and not reading things properly, sorry.)

The chair reminds her that no, he only looks rather like Tom and she nods to him,

"Of course, sir. You simply reminded me of someone I know,"

And love, but she will not think on that, the world is not made yet for her to marry and write or his uncle to approve.

[these things they happen]

"Something I have heard happens often enough in this place," he admitted with a faint smile, "but had never happened to me until today."

Fry sees the man with the wheelchair out of the corner of his eye, gets up, and moves three chairs out of his most likely path.

Charles notices this... and gives the boy a faint smile. A small part of him wrankles at his new limitations, at the trouble they can present. But the child is being kind, and kindness is always to be appreciated.

Fry catches the smile, and takes it as an invitation to smile slightly back.

(If Charles is picking up minds at the moment, he may notice that Fry always has a mental well-proportioned map of the layout of the room, and is currently attempting to calculate the width of the wheelchair in his head.)

Not so subtly, he attempts to peer at the title of the book.

He tries not to pry, but if Fry is thinking particularly hard on the matter, he probably has a good idea of what he's doing. There's little he can do when people are so terribly focused.

That's why he tips the book up for the boy to see better. It's a book on radiation and genetic mutation.

A wheelchair. Not unheard of in his time, of course, but usually only as a stopgap. Which could imply something about when the man in the chair is from.

"Good afternoon." It was afternoon on the ship. And still will be later, right?

"Good afternoon."

Though as Charles turns to look at the man, he has to keep himself from blinking. There... but not there. How very strange.

"Can I ask when you're from. I don't see many wheelchairs in my day." Blunt, as always.

He has gotten past reflexive discomfort when the chair is mentioned. Now he just nods.

"1962. And yourself?"

Don't get many wheelchairs in the bar. And people with wheelchairs either don't live long or don't get around much in Eterno.

"Mrrrrt?"

Carth sniffs the chair.

Charles notices, because he can't do otherwise, and lookw down at the small creature sniffing at his chair.

"Hello."

He's found it best to always keep to his manners.

Charles certainly doesn't mind.

"Would you like something to nibble, hmm? You'll have to be good to the wait rats, but I suppose I could provide a little something if you'd like."
