It's a little...weird to be told that you're a vampire slayer. Especially the speech, the speech is pretty out there.
"Into every generation there is a chosen one, she alone will stand against the vampires..."
Blah, blah, blah. They tell you everything they can to fluff up your ego before they mention that you're inevitably going to die in

"Believe me, it sounds weird but it feels good."
I tell her the same thing about sex and she still hasn't listened to reason on that either. Whatever. I'm trying to be a good friend and get her to do something nice for herself. Spas are nice. Unless you're as anti-strangers as she's being right now. Poor Alex. She needs to discover how nice it is to pamper yourself once and a while. Massages, mud treatments, and pedicures are godly.
"Maybe I'll treat myself to some shopping or something. Or hey, maybe I'll even get brave or bored enough to ask out that guy in my Western Civ class. You never know. I'll do something Alex-centric, though. Really."
"Oh, there's a hottie in your Civ class? Details. Now."
I need my daily dose of girl talk, and potential romance brightens it better than anything else would. Alex needs to get more assertive and actually ask these cute guys out, but she's working on it. I tend to let it go because they don't sound like they're good enough for her. When she finds someone worthy, then she should just jump him and get it out of her system.

Well, that certainly seemed to have sparked Carly's interest.
Alex helped herself to a seat at the kitchen table, putting her mug of tea down in front of her. "Details?" she asked with a smile, glad that they had moved forward to another topic once again. Some people might have seen it as dancing around the subjects that really needed to be addressed, but she didn't. She and Carly had conversations that hopped around like this all the time. In her opinion, that was the very nature of true conversation. Topics like their financial situation... if they really needed to be talked about, they would come up again later.
"Well, I dunno. I don't know that much about him. He's cute, though. And keeps good notes."
Good notetaking was an important quality for a man to have.

Good notes? I'd want to learn if they were half as good at other things as they are at taking notes, but...Alex likes organization. She must like that the guy has his act together and takes his studies seriously; some shit like that. If that's what she likes, she should just ask him out and disuss notetaking or whatever.
Cute sound good, regardless of not knowing and notes.
"Ask him out!"
It's an easy enough piece of advice to give, but its up to Alex to agree with me and take it. Depending on how cute this guy is, it might be hard to get her to work up her courage. If she acts silly about it I could always get her a little crunked. Artificial courage would do the trick. I'll never understand why such a pretty girl gets nervous around guys.
"You could compare notes."

"I can't do that!" Alex said automatically, without even asking herself why. That was just the way she felt. She'd never asked a guy out before, mostly because she'd never had the time or interest. She wasn't sure whether or not she wantedto start now. "I mean... I don't know. Wouldn't that be a little weird?"
"You could compare notes."
Carly was teasing, but Alex thought it might actually be a decent idea. Using the "let's study together" line was pretty easy, and could be played off as innocent if things started to go bad. "Maybe I'll ask him," she said offhand, shrugging a little. "I guess it couldn't hurt, right?"
