It's a little...weird to be told that you're a vampire slayer. Especially the speech, the speech is pretty out there.
"Into every generation there is a chosen one, she alone will stand against the vampires..."
Blah, blah, blah. They tell you everything they can to fluff up your ego before they mention that you're inevitably going to die in battle. And why is that inevitable? Because you're the chosen one. Because it is up to you, and you alone to stand against the vampires. Because the supernatural Uncle Sam wants YOU!
But in my generation there are three, and I'm the baby of the group. I don't think that whole "chosen one" idea applies anymore. Someone got sloppy, forgot to do the math, and now I'm just supposed to jump in and save the day because current slayer #2 used up one of her nine lives?
I'll pass.
I have better things to do than save the world. My father would be horrified if he'd lived to figure this one out. Either that, or he'd have tried to hire me. I don't know, but the point is, if there's supposed to be one, and somehow there are three, then I should get a say in what I want to do about it. It's not my calling; I was an accident.
I like my life just the way it is. Besides, LA doesn't need a vampire slayer to keep it in check, it'd take a whole damn slayer army to do that. What difference could one girl make in a city like this one?
