Chapter 6
Maru broke the silence by asking,
'what's that on your desk?'
I looked to where he was pointing.
'It's something for a project I'm working on.'Ueda replied putting the pieces away. I never really knew what Ueda did, I just know that he has a good grasp on the underworking a of Tokyo.
'Ah,I see.' Maru answered & proceeded to look around. Ueda leaned on his desk & with a slight chuckle yelled 'aye, Maru don't break anything.'
Ueda & I were alone. I pulled out the coin.
'what can you tell me about this?' I asked.
' oh, Kame not today I haven't eaten today.' he replied. I pulled a package of mixed nuts. Ueda lit up.
' let me eat first.' he replied. Taking the bag & the coin. While Ueda was taking his sweet time, I checked my phone. There was an accident report. What I saw alarmed me.
'Maru! Come here.' I yelled at him since he was in the back of the shop. He came running out.
'yes?'
'we need to go. Yuko's been in an accident.'
Maru stood there stunned. I pushed him out the door.
'i'll catch up with ya later.' I called back to Ueda.
We arrived at the hospital.As we entered we saw that Yuko was resting. The nurse was there & she told us that Yuko was grazed by a car.
'hmmmm, that's what happened to me.' I told Maru.he nodded in agreement.
' hey you can drop me off at my place & stay with her here.'I suggested.
'ok,you not going to do anything crazy.'
'no,'i replied.'just going to review some information.
'I see'.' he answered ' ok just be careful Kame.'
I heard the concern in his voice.I nodded.
