Jay and Jess came over last night and we watched a couple of cricket matches, the Big Bash limited-over games that only go for a couple of hours each. There's something weirdly comforting about Richie Benaud droning on during a Test match commentary on a hot summer afternoon; it just would not be cricket without it. I was dismayed to hear on the radio this morning that Gilly is hanging up his gloves at the end of the one day international series. I know he's copped a lot of flak from the media over his five dropped catches this summer, but as far as I'm concerned he's still the best wicketkeeper in the world.
