What I Did Summer 2011

Oct 01, 2011 18:42

I wasn't really active during the summer. For the most part I was in the house on the computer, wishing someone would call me to hang out.

But there were six things that I did that stood out.

1. I Went To Tai's (musicalbento) Cookout

It was good to see Tai, as I don't really get to see him often. It was an interesting day.

2. I Had Lunch With Charda (tigerpost)

I also don't get to see her very often as we now go to different universities but it was really nice to see her and hear about how things were at Howard/talk about our oppars and unnirs. I hope we continue to stay in touch!

3. I Had Dinner With johnnyride and moodynights

We went to a Korean BBQ place called Honey Pig, which was good (minus the squid. I don't think I'll do that again. I thought it would be fried, not grilled), and then we went to a Korean Bakery to get Bubble Tea, which was also good. However I don't think the combination of the things agreed with me, as I regurgitated everything when I got home. XD

4. Mount Vernon Trip
I'm an American Revolution/Colonial History geek so it was my suggestion that my family go to Mount Vernon for the day as a part of our vacation (each family member got to choose something. My sister made a video about the trip and I'll upload it as soon as possible because I took 14837274759594 pictures and I'm too lazy to upload them all.

5. My Internship!

THIS WAS MY FAVORITE PART OF THE SUMMER.

I had an internship at a Theatre company called "Unexpected Stage" in which I ran lights for their production of Candy and Dorothy. My dad knows the father of Chris Founder/Producer/Director of the company and his wife Rachel who is the other Founder/Producer/Director. They are such nice people and their daughters are adorable.

The people I worked with were so friendly and we got along very well. I loved the run throughs of the show, playing theatre games with the cast before each performance, and getting to know the people. Zeek, the Light Designer was so awesome. He created the lights for the show and helped me learn how to work the sound board. He was quite impressed with my ability to pick it up so quickly (I was learning lights four days before the actual show) and was relieved he didn't have to hold my hand through it all. John who was the Sound Designer was also impressed with me and said I should a consider a career in Stage Management since I "just get it and there are very few people who get it as fast".

Jennifer, who played The Voice was so kind to me. She was really awesome and I liked helping her run lines when she had to do sound checks. And Dawn who played Tamara was also very nice. She'd give me rides to the metro station after the performance and break down of the set were finished. Eric who played Sid is really hilarious. And Bob who played Candy was so much fun to be around. He's a really great guy. They all were great people and I miss seeing them. I hope we get to work together in the future when I finally graduate from Towson with a degree in Acting.

6. Harry Potter Midnight Showing

AJHGJAGKAHGKAGHAKHGKAHGKAHGKAG IT WAS SO AMAZING I DON'T EVEN. I dressed up for the occasion:

I HAVE NO REGRETS EVEN IF I LOOK FAT IN THE COSTUME. The movie was so amazing and everyone in the movie theatre cheered and laughed at the right moments. A few people (including myself) cried at the end. It was amazing.

However I was pissed about a few things. The first was how Fred's death was handled. WE GOT NOTHING. NOTHING. We saw him alive talking to George and then 30 minutes later Ron was crying over his dead body. Fred is my 2nd favorite character so I'm pissed at how that was handled.

Second: WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT PART WHEN HARRY THREW VOLDEMORT OVER THE END OF THE CASTLE WALL? THAT SHIT WAS CORNY.

Third: I really want that Harry and Voldemort's final battle was done the way it was done in the book: the two of them circling each other while the entire hall watched. It just had a bigger impact to me when I read it in the book and it was well written.

I will miss Harry Potter so much but the magic will NEVER be over. And Fanfiction and Pottermore (which I will rant about later) are both proof of that. XD

harry potter is the most awesome book se, real life, lauren is a fangirl
