I spent most of Saturday in Cambridge, then went on to Ely to stay with the lovely gwendraith. We had a wonderful dinner at the Anchor. On Sunday (after another wonderful meal - breakfast cooked by gwendraith's fair hand - we set off for the wilds of Suffolk and dodged the heavy showers as best we could ( Read more... )

Went to see Blues legend Johnny Winter at the Astoria last night. To my shame, I'd never heard of him.

We only caught the last two numbers of the support act, the Oli Brown Band, but they seemed like fun. It's a shame they couldn't have played a bit longer, because there was a really long gap with nothing happening when we were just standing ( Read more... )

Went to the opera last night. Not proper opera. The new Savoy Theatre company, which has been set up do "pop" operas on the cheap, sung in English. (It was certainly cheap - the programme cost me more than the ticket. The programme was £4.)
