so here it goes.
i had an amazing trip. there is such an awesome group of girls out there and life is not even close in insanity as new york so they all have time to hang out. and there are all these cute little houses. and everyone has dogs. and i kinda had a chubby the whole time i was there cuz everyone is so damn cute. espically the next-door neighbor of the friends i was staying with. seriously i have a huge cross-continential crush. nothing happenend, but it has been a lonnnnnngggggggg time since i had such a crush.
everything was just starting to bloom and there is this pervasive green moss that highlights everything. the whole time i was there everyone was trying to convince me to move and i was like no i don't think so and then my plane landed in nyc and it was 20 degrees and there was snow on the ground and i wanted to get right back on the plane and go back. i need to go visit again and see how it feels. i am not going anywhere quick or even slow but it is very much in my mind.
i thrifted several great things. smoked tons of pot and even helped with the harvesting of a plant. ate yummy food, some that i cooked and some out. walked in nature. had not one but two birthday cakes, one made by jones (white chocolate with fresh raspberries) and the other a mint chocolate ice cream cake with A RAINBOW ON TOP that they got to say "happy late thirties".
my birthday itself was out of this world. i spent the bulk of it with two sexy, thoughtful, funny, caring butches. first on a morning adventure to find this tiny restaurant (which we did find eventually but was no longer in operation) so we went somewhere else and i was tucked into a round booth between the aformentioned hotness. we then traveled out to the next-door neighbors boat for a three hour cruise. it was sunny, 70 degrees, and no one else was out cuz it was a tuesday. we saw so much damn nature it was mind blowing. tons of birds...so many bald eagles i lost count (including a baby bald eagle in a HUGE nest), hawks, cormorants, ospry, herons. and two different seals. the second one surfaced a mere 15 feet from our boat having JUST CAUGHT A SALMON IN ITS MOUTH and then five minutes later it caught another one just to show off. we docked on this tiny island and laid out in the sun and smoked more pot. every time i went to get in and out of the boat there was a hand to help me. not that i needed help, but more that i was with these lovely butch girls with manners. after the magical boat ride we popped into a thrift store where i found this crazy perfece electric blue poleyester dress that fits me like a glove and perhaps is only for summer camp. then we went home and i took a nap and then when i woke up people came over and we ordered thai food for take out (no delivery in portland, minus one point for portland). after dinner there was said cake. people gave me some lovely thoughtful gifts. zelda gave me a foot massage, unsolicited and nora and ree read dr. seuess stories.
and then the next morning a bunch of us went out to breakfast (with amazing biscuts and gravy) and i flew home unstressed out thanks to one xanax from margot. note to self, get more xanax for flying!
so my mantra these days is to have the second half of my thirties kick the first half in the ass.
the voices in my head can shut the fuck up.
i will live in harmony between my thoughts and feelings and actions.
xoxo
