IFC greenlights vampire telepic
Lionsgate, After Dark to Produce 'Anita Blake'
HOLLYWOOD -- IFC has greenlit its first telepic, a project based on Laurell K. Hamilton's vampire novels.
Produced by Lionsgate and After Dark Films, "Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter" will focus on the street-savvy heroine as she deals with bloodsuckers and bad dates.
Glen Morgan ("The X-Files") wrote the adaptation and will exec produce the film, which begins production this summer. Courtney Solomon will exec produce along with Morgan. Hamilton, Jonathan D. Green and Stephanie Caleb are co-exec producers.
Hamilton's "Anita Blake" series currently spans 16 Penguin Group-published books that have sold more than 6 million copies worldwide.
