All-New Batman: Brave and the Bold 26: Written by Sholly Fisch; art by Rick Burchett

It's no secret that I adore the Batman: Brave and the Bold cartoon, but it suffers from a sad lack of Superman in it. That made sense early on, when the focus was on teaming up Batman with less-known heroes. But the second half of the second season is supposed to have Superman in it, and despite having episodes where he could well show up (a retelling of Emperor Joker, an invasion by Darkseid), Clark has only shown up in tiny snippets set in an imaginary-story where he goes to Bruce and Selina's wedding.
So when I saw that the latest comic books based on the show had Superman on the cover, I wasn't sure there'd be a lot of Clark. But imagine my delight when:
SURPRISE SHIRTLESS SUPERMAN YESSS.
The art didn't always do it for me--it's skilled, clean and sharp, but now and then both Clark and Bruce looked kind of plug-ugly (other times quite nice, mind you!) But the story is a nice, lightweight look at the relationship between Clark and Bruce.
Awwwww, Bruce saying Clark is his closest friend after Alfred and Robin! (and to be honest, their relationships with him have so much of the father and son in them that I consider that a statement that Clark is his closest friend)
Then there is, um, a mystery. Which leads to lovely scenes of Clark and Bruce being detective-y and research-y together:
Heee, I love that facepalm in the last panel so much.
Bruce gets a hunch:
Okay, I included this page because Clark looks so adorable in his last panel.
Then they take out the villain with a plan that involves, um, Clark getting half-naked. I SAY THIS IS A GOOD PLAN.
*fangirlishness*
Oh, and despite squeeing about Red Robin 17, I hadn't posted scans of it, so here they are! It starts with Tim delivering a package to former Batgirl Cassandra Cain in Hong Kong:
Tim gets smooched by an ambiguous villain/possible undercover agent named Lynx (Tim is getting a fair amount of attention from the ladies in Nicieza's run!) and then meets up with Bruce, very recently back from the past/death:
Real-Time Mithen Reaction: What? Could he--could he mean--???

OK, that is my squeeishness for the week! Some recent quick takes:
--Batman Inc. has some very good Bat/Cat where they are frankly sexing each other up and having fun and not playing games or being coy with each other, it's great.
--The new Superboy title looks promising, though it's still getting its feet under it. Conner is a lot more thoughtful and less cocky now, which makes sense after all he's been through, but I kind of miss his attitude a bit.
--Knight & Squire and Action Comics continue to be a couple of the best titles out there. I love Paul Cornell's work so much right now.
