A quick blurb about feminism

Mar 25, 2010 14:48

First, I want to thank the women of history who were pioneers in feminism. If it were not for you, I would not have the privilege of attending college or speaking my mind freely or voting or even of wearing pants.

Now.
Let's think about the year 2010. Is it really that important to push for women's rights now? Why not push for human rights? All humans. Men, women, caucasians, asians, africans, homosexuals, heterosexuals, transexuals, deaf, hearing, blind, seeing...
We all have rights to life. All should be treated with respect and dignity.

It's not an issue of what kind of genitalia I have. My body is my physical entrapment. Let us all be humanists and think about what each individual brings to the table - his or her talents, experiences, gifts, skills, opinions, and so forth.

I guess I'm a little tired of hearing people talk about "FEMINISM!!!!!" There's a bigger picture that I will concern myself with. I am a woman, and that doesn't change a thing.
