whoever fucking decided that the
side ponytail is back in fashion, deserves to be shot.
in fact... most female fashion these days. i cant be the only one who thinks that many many females look like idiots... with their semi-mullet hair-metal two-tone wigs haircuts, and those leggings under teeny-tiny jean skirts. really, it hasnt been long enough for the 80's to be coming back in style, let alone the early 90's. what's next? giant floppy neon sweaters that cut off at the midriff??? fanny packs??????
is this a sign that i'm old?
when i think back on my own fashion phases... i tend to be more embarassed with the clothes i wore when i was much younger. say... under 14. when i was like... i think around 10 i had one of those stupid back pack purses. and the ugly ugly bellbottoms. those were sad days indeed. but let us also not forget that was: The 90's. I really dont find the giant 42inch SnakeEye pants all that embarassing. the "visors", the many many black t-shirts, even the spikes... really, not all that embarassing. Even my platforms. I would NOT wear them now, but I dont look back in shame. The late 90's - early 2000's, to me, seemed to retain the "grunge" of the early 90's while leaving out the neon and stupid hair. I dont remember the "popular" girls dressing too horribley either. Tank tops and jeans?
something has gone horribley awry in this day and age. i always thought when a new "retro" crazy rolled around, the LAST thing people would do is start putting pony tails on the side of their goddamn head. It's time to duck and cover people... the windbreakers and track pants are coming and the giant sunglasses are already here.
EDIT: upon further reflection, I recall one hideous pair of purple pants I owned in grade... 7? yes. truly hideous.
i also remember the neon pink ones. but those ROCKED. i'd still wear those now. same with my metallic red baggy ones. that had a clip on pocket.
and i still think the "skirt-over-pants" thing is a viable option, especially in the fall, if done correctly. However, skirt -over-pants is very different from tiny-ripped-ugly-skrit-over-fucking-bloomers.
