Yet More!

I ended up adopting two more rats. This brings my total to six. I am stopping now, I swear.

I bought a big cage (27x25x16) from a guy yesterday for only $35. It has two doors. Since one is on the top, I can remove it and clip on my other big cage (minus the flooring) to the top. I need to make a nice soft floor between the two cages. I will probably tape two layers of corrugated cardboard together, wrap tightly in saran wrap, then fashion two polar fleece sleeves to go on top of that. I will have to make two L shaped pieces, since the door in the lower cage is in the center and I will need a hole in the middle of the flooring. I also need to make some hammock levels for the newest cage, since it didn't have any as I thought it did.

I don't need to make the flooring for a few weeks though, since each group of rats is quarantined from the others.

The girl that had these boys didn't have time to spend with them any more. I was phoned about them yesterday and wasn't sure I would take them or not... but then I saw how friendly they were and one is a dumbo! That clinched it. Dumbos are so adorable.

They are 10 months old and seem to be alright health-wise. No sneezing or anything respiratory-wise, so that is good. They peed a lot in the box on the way home, so as soon as I got them back here, they got plopped into a nice, hot bath. They didn't poop in the bath, which was nice. Though they did poop a bit on the way home. They are a little soft looking, so I will give them a bit of diluted gatorade for hydration. It worked nicely for the other two in quarantine.

This is Liam. He is an Irish like Viktor!

This is Timothy. Solid Dumbo! *squeeee!*

I gave them each a half slice of red pepper and half of a milkbone. They seem to enjoy it.
