I have this friend, Debbie, who I've known for about 15 years now, and we still remain great friends, even though we only see each other a few times a year, and since she had a baby a year and a half ago, that time has diminished, or is occupied with baby in tow (nothing wrong with that, but not as easy to just "hang with the girls" when there's a wee one).
Yesterday, she got the hubby to watch him while we went to the mall and proceeded to spend 6 hours hanging out. It was great!!! We first sniffed our way through Bath and Body Works (bummed that the new tuberose scent won't be out til the 15th) and then we went to the movies. We saw "The Heartbreak Kid", Ben Stiller's new movie with the guys who did "There's Something About Mary", and it definitely cracked us up. I would definitely recommend this for some side splitting good times, and might even buy it when it comes out (there's one particular part, a very special scene, that flashes an image so fast, I must see it in slo-mo). Before the movie, there was the preview for
Sweeney Todd with Johnny Depp - CANNOT wait to see this!!!
We had time to kill afterwards before Outback opened, so we wandered through Michael's, where I got more knitting supplies, but I kept myself from buying anything too expensive. Lunch was uber-yummy - even though it isn't on the menu anymore, I got their bleu cheese pecan salad with steak on it, and OMG so tasty! We must have sat there for 2 hours, sharing photos, chatting about family, etc. We wrapped up our shopping by going to Vicky's (nothing for me) and Torrid (still nothing, but no biggie). Even though it wiped me out so that I couldn't make it to the Gothic Volunteer Alliance meeting, it was worth it. Plus, I finished my fourth square and should finish the final one tonight so that I'm only a day late with my knitting.
And did I mention how good the apple/cherry pie from Mom's in Julian is? It was dinner last night.....
