Trip!

So as most of you know, every summer I go on one or two guided tours. This year, one of my best friends Melinda and I went to the Finger Lakes one. Three days, two nights, nature galore.

DAY 1:

Obligatory MySpace-looking shot. Ignore my hair, it was so freaking humid that I considered shaving my head and wearing a wig.

Shot of one of the Finger Lakes.

Another.

And again.

Melinda posing by it.

Melinda being silly in the hotel room. First day we usually don't see much since it's mostly us driving to the tour destination.

Me being comfy. Hotel beds are so much nicer to sleep in that my fold-out couch. :(

DAY 2:

"To the stocks, wench!" They were randomly by the docks of another of the Finger Lakes.

We went on a small, educational cruise of that one.

"I'M ON A BOAT!!"

View from inside the boat.

Me going blind trying to admire the landscape.

Close-up of one of the waterfalls flowing into the lake.

Close-up of one of the rocky walls around the lake. That is an actual Native-American wall painting of when the English first came to America!

Melinda being a safety hazard.

Our next destination. Hiking down to a waterfall.

She's such a 'poser', hehe.

Passing underneath said waterfall. 'Lin was trying to wash her hands, methinks.

Down and down we go.

What the waterfall flows into.

Next destination; Americana Winery. Only one photo from there and sorry again for looking like crap, I was tired and tipsy. There was wine-tasting on the premises and our group got a free, separate session in the next room. We literally sat in a semi-circle with wine glasses as the girl that worked there would pick up a bottle, tell us what it was called, how it was made and how it would taste and walk around and pour each person about 1/4 of a glass' worth. NINETEEN TIMES. I was on medication and hadn't eaten yet that day so yeah, I felt pretty good once that was done. I also bought three bottles of one of their exclusive blueberry wines because it had the most amazing, unique flavour I'd ever tasted.

Next was another waterfall. First we saw it from an observation point across it.

Then we hiked towards it alongside the river it flows into.

We got to wade barefoot in the water a bit. 'Twas nice.

Hang ten, dudette!

We made it!

Melinda being a safety hazard again.

DAY 3:

We visited Cornell University. View from their campus.

'Twas fancy.

Seeing what it's like to be a student there.

We visited another lake and two more small waterfalls but they were the kind where people could swim so I wasn't about to take a shot of a bunch of random tourists in their inappropriately placed swimwear. So here is Melinda being a safety hazard again instead.

Overall I had a great time, I love nature. It was very relaxing to just sit on the grass by the lakes and in the forests and breathe the fresh air. We got to do that any time the tour guide gave us free time. I fully intend to go on one more tour this summer, just not sure where yet.
