A Statement of Purpose

I am a force of change. I enter someone's life when they need to alter something and they have not been able to accomplish it on their own. The change process is usually for the better, allowing for new jobs, living arrangements, relationships, etc.

There seems to be a time limit on this process as well. Two years is about as long as anyone needs me in their life. Beyond that and everyone involved becomes frustrated.

Having a time limit also means, among other things, that I am never wholly or personally involved. For example, I am never the target of the new relationship. I'm just there to guide them to the right person. I never find a new job for them. I just redo the CV. And so forth.

It is never a conscious effort on anyone's part that I help with these changes either. Somehow, people that need my assistance find me and I do what I can and then they disappear again. They may keep in touch once in a while, but we are never close beyond that period of time really.

Now that all this is clarified, I'm going to quit this nearly self-loathing diatribe and continue to pretend I don't exist in this household. I really dislike visiting family - maybe because they don't believe in this two-year rule.
